History of "New" Cemetery of Montgomery |
Burial place of many honored Texans, including
Dr. Charles B. Stewart, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence and
First Secretary of State. Also wife of General Memucan Hunt, Texas soldier and
statesman. Other noted individuals here include soldiers of the Texas Army
and veterans of the Civil War and other wars engaged in by the United States.
This cemetery was founded December 1, 1868, to relieve "Old" Methodist plot.
First persons buried on land, donated by P. J. and R. S. Willis, merchants, were
three men killed by vigilantes. A fourth was buried nearby. (Historical

Adrian E. (Gene) Wade Cashner Funeral Home & Cemetery 936-756-2126 August 20, 2003 |
Funeral services for Adrian E. (Gene) Wade, 63, of Montgomery will be held on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at 10 a.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Pastor John Lockwood and Joe Fregia officiating. Interment will follow in Montgomery Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003 from 5 to 9 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home. Mr. Wade was born on Dec. 6, 1939 in Mobile, Ala. and passed away on Aug. 19, 2003, in Montgomery, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Virgil Wade and Lavetta White Wade; brother, Ronnie Robert Wade; and sister, Judy Darlene Branch. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Smallwood Wade of Montgomery; sons, Duke Wade and wife Jennifer and Darrell G. Wade all of Montgomery; daughters, Sonja W. Morrell and Tonja L. Wade and friend Donna Green, all of Montgomery; brother, Joseph Arthur Wade, of Hillsboro, Ore.; sisters, Sherry Ann Moore of Groveton and Deborah Dimick of Huffman; granddaughters, Amber Miller, Kara Wade, Kaylynn Wade, Felicia Hart, Melissa Green, and Lindzey Green; grandsons, Michael Bubba Morrell, Aaron Wade Morrell, Derek Pete Morrell, Adrian Wade III (J.R.), and Hunter Logan Wade.
