Born: 10 Apr 1852, Newton, Newton County, Texas
Married: Harriet Davis (1850 - 1932)
Died: 07 May 1934, Newton, Newton County, Texas
Parents: James Herrin [Herring] and Nancy Lewis
Buried: Davis Cemetery, Newton County, Texas
His son Samuel B. Herrin was married to Amanda Stivender, daughter of John Stivender (1861 - 1935, Bon Wier, Texas) and Martha Jane Cotton (1868 Tyler County, Texas - 1953 Bon Wier, Texas). Martha
Jane Cotton Stivender was said to be Cherokee Indian.
PLEASE NOTE: Corrections have been received from Hal Herrin. The picture was labeled wrong according to him. Enclosed is the section of his email that pertains to this:
email is qanonfan@yahoo.com
The three gentlemen pictured are William Marcus DeLafayette Herrin, Robert 'Bob' Herrin, and Samuel McFarland Herrin. The Ida in the photo is the sister of the three boys - g
iven name of Ida 'Eliza' Josephine Herrin, daughter of James and Nancy Herrin. Ida later married John Ford. She is not Ida Ann as the caption reads. Ida Ann was the daughter of
Samuel McFarland Herrin... Sam was born in 1846 and his daughter Ida Ann was born in 1871 - no way is she 25 years years younger than Sam in the photo. Whoever captioned that photo is
wrong. The Ida in the photo was born in 1855 almost the same age as her 3 brothers.
Mark is a brother of the other three, not the father of them. Before marrying Harriet Davis, Mark's wife was Emily (Wilkenson) Herrin. She is buried in the DeHart Cemetery in the
Pine Grove Community alongside her in-laws, James Herrin(g) and Nancy Lewis Herrin. Mark and Emily had 6 children.
I maintain the DeHart Cemetery (near the Pine Grove Community) - mowing it and the surrounding area every few months. Samuel Herrin was my great-grandfather. The Sam Herrin Cemetery
in Fawil is in his namesake and the Bob Herrin Cemetery in Buckhorn is in the namesake of Bob Herrin. Mark and Harriet Davis had 3 children, Robert Ancil, Samuel Bronson, and
Ida 'Roxie' Herrin, but Samuel Bronson is not the one pictured above; again, that is my great-grandfather Samuel McFarland Herrin. Could you or someone please make changes in order
to correct the error? Also recaption Ida 's photo. Thank you - Harold (Hal) Herrin
