Kainer, Lauren Elizabeth (20 Jun 1996 - 1 Feb 2023)
Family- Father: John Kainer, Mother: Liz Cemetery: Immaculate Conception Cemetery (Sealy) References: GenFolks
Lauren Elizabeth Kainer, 26, of Sealy, was born to John and Liz Kainer on June 20, 1996, in Houston, Texas. She went to her heavenly home on February 1, 2023, two years to the day that her Grandmother Mary passed away.
Lauren was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy, Texas, where she was baptized and shared receiving the sacrament of her First Holy Communion with her brother Jared and cousin Wyatt. A daily ritual for Lauren was listening and praying the rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet.
She attended Sealy schools and graduated in May of 2017. She was blessed with many excellent teachers, aides, therapists, coaches, and administrators who addressed her specialized learning needs. Due to Lauren's medical issues, she was also blessed to be able to have her Grandmother Patty assigned to be her personal classroom aide. They made many beautiful art projects together that she shared with family and friends. In addition, she was involved in Special Olympics for several of these years and one year was able to have her brother, Jared, as her coach and her cousin, Blaine as her assistant coach.
Lauren enjoyed music and was able to keep the rhythm by moving her thumb or ringing her bells. She loved being in the middle of her loud cousins and brother, who was her superhero (especially when he dressed up as Spiderman). Celebrating her birthdays with family at the skating rink was always a treat, particularly when her cousins would take turns pushing her around the rink in her wheelchair. Attending movies with all the bright lights and loud noises and participating in adaptive bowling were other activities she loved.
Sharing time watching football, especially the Cowboys, and dancing with her dad, John, were her favorite moments. She was most responsive when she heard male voices; the most memorable time was when she was hospitalized with multiple tubes taped to her, but when her grandfather, Lawrence, came in to see her, she immediately turned her head all around to look at him when she heard his voice. She was also blessed with and enjoyed the home care provided by many excellent nurses over the years.
The family prays that no one doubts that Lauren had a purpose on this earth. Lauren had a special gift of touching others' hearts with just her presence. Her family called her “an Angel on earth.†When Lauren was 11 months old and very ill in the hospital, her mother was praying the rosary and had a vision of the Virgin Mary holding Lauren, blessing her, and putting her down to run back to her mother. The priest told Liz that the Virgin Mary was sharing Lauren with us. The family felt blessed to be able to care for her. After a lot of praying, it was revealed that she was not the one who needed to be healed and needed to be loved just the way she was. She healed many in her own special way from her bed and wheelchair without even saying a word. So, the family has no doubt that Lauren has completed “her mission†here on earth and is now in the royal court of her Heavenly mother, Mary, the Queen of Heaven, and her Beloved Son Jesus, as a princess wearing her Crown of Glory. She is dressed today, ready to play the part
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Kwiatkowski, and her paternal grandfather, Lawrence Alfred Kainer.
She is survived by her mother, Liz Kainer, father John Kainer and wife, Mandy; brother, Jared Kainer and stepsisters, Sailor and Scarlett Goebel; maternal grandfather, Alphonse Kwiatkowski; paternal grandmother, Patty Kainer; aunts and uncles, John Kwiatkowski Kathryn and Demetrio Tamez, Lori and Dennis Gruwell, Annette and Leslie Little, James Kainer, Jason and Kellie Kainer, Allison and Kevin Cargile, Justin and Timberly Kainer, Sara Kainer, and Ronnie Thrasher; 23 cousins and numerous friends who loved her.
Pallbearers- Blaine Tamez, Joshua Gruwell, Tanner Little, Jacob Kainer, David Kainer, Liam Cargile, and Wyatt Mazac
Honorary Pallbearers- Lucas Little, Ethan Kainer, Ronnie Thrasher II, Dylan Cargile, and Blake Cargile

Kendrick, Aletha Lee (Burk) (31 Oct 1942 - 15 Mar 2023)
Family- Father: Carl Burk, Mother: Marie, Spouse: Darrell Kendrick, Children: Lisa Johnson, Michael Ryan Kendrick Cemetery: Oak Knoll Cemetery References: GenFolks
Aletha Lee Kendrick, 80, left this life and entered into Glory on March 15, 2023, after a short, yet courageous battle with cancer.
Aletha was born October 31, 1942, to Carl and Marie Burk in Houston. She was baptized, raised, and confirmed in the Lutheran church. Aletha graduated from Cy-Fair High School, in Cypress, Tx in 1960 and went on to attend college at Texas Woman's University in Denton and The University of Texas in Austin. She and Darrell met on a blind date at a Valentine's dance and got engaged six months later. They were married at Concordia Lutheran Church in Houston on Leap Year, February 29, 1964. Their love and marriage have been an inspiration to all that know them.
After college, she worked as a Legal Secretary for a well-known personal injury attorney Joe Jamail until the birth of her daughter in February 1967. It was right then and there that she knew she wanted to be a full-time stay-at-home mom and enjoy the blessings she was given. Four years later they were blessed with the birth of their son Ryan.
Aletha was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Dickinson, TX since 1967. They lived and raised their children in San Leon, TX right on Galveston Bay where she loved to watch her husband and son fish, the children and their friends swim and play for countless hours and watch the most amazing sunsets from their pier.
She blessed her husband, children, and her children's friends with more love and support than anyone else in the world could. She had a passion for reading, painting, gardening, shopping on a "girls-day" with her daughter, playing the piano, volunteering at her church, and volunteering at her children's school when they were young. Aletha and Darrell also have a great love for the Texas Hill Country where they loved to spend as much time as possible at their various properties over the course of their marriage. They both enjoyed their nightly margaritas, sitting outside in the country, taking in the beauty, and listening to absolutely nothing. In recent years she was blessed to discover she had a biological half-sister and developed a beautiful relationship with her.
Aletha is survived by the love of her life, her devoted husband of 59 years Darrell Kendrick of Bellville, TX, daughter Lisa Johnson, and fiance Anthony Gast of Santa Fe, TX, grandson Ryan Johnson of Santa Fe, TX, biological sister Janet Nelson of Illinois, best friends Charlene Norvell of Bedias, TX, Margaret Frazier of Friendswood, TX and Bekki Lammert (cousin) of Austin, TX, the three girls that proudly call her their “Other Mother†Donna Catron Graham of Galveston, TX, Angie Chalk van der Meer of Villa De La Orotava, Canary Islands, Spain, Lana Blair of San Leon, TX and numerous cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her 12-year-old son Michael Ryan Kendrick, her parents Carl and Marie Burk, and her in-laws Nolte and Verbeline Kendrick.
Aletha was a friend and "mother" to all that knew her. But she is most known for her kindness, never forgetting a birthday or anniversary. She always had a smile that could outshine any darkness and a kind word for all she met. There are no words for how much she will be missed by all who know her.
Pallbearers- Randy Krumrey, Trent Bolin, Wade Norvell, Corky Trlica, Arlie Kendrick, and Dusty Kendrick

She made her First Communion and Confirmation at Guardian Angel Catholic Church and received her diploma from Brazos High School. While she was a patient in the pediatric ICU at Memorial Hermann Hospital, she was on the cover of the hospital Horizons Magazine. Allison and Denise were also featured in a Houston Chronical article and were on TV at the MDA Telethon in Houston.
Allison was the ultimate babysitter to many children. She owned and loved many fur babies. Her birthdays were always a party! She always had a theme and later had different characters in attendance because she loved to watch the little ones' excitement. She was always on the go with shopping being her favorite thing to do. In later years though, it became difficult for her to spend time in her wheelchair and she became home bound. She loved movies and there were not many that she had not seen. Over the years, both Allison and Denise were cared for by their loving parents and many wonderful, loving doctors, nurses, and caregivers. A few years ago, Allison decided she was done with hospitals and with any illness that came along, she would insist she stay at home instead.
On Dec. 20, 2023, at the age of 40 years, she passed into the loving arms of Jesus Christ and was undoubtedly met by many family members who went before her led by her loving sister, Denise Renea King.
Allison is preceded in death by grandparents, Patricia Smaistrla, and Racy and Margaret King; sister, Denise Renea King and brother, Sean Scarborough; uncles and aunts, Alphonse Smaistrla Jr., Greg Smaistrla, Bruno E. Nowak, Chris King, and Carole J. Nowak; and cousins, Bruno Nowak, Douglas W. King, and Jennifer Nowak.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her parents, James G. King, and Jacqueline and Gary Scarborough; grandfather, Alphonse Smaistrla; aunts and uncles, Daephne and Randy Kresta, Dennis and Carolyn King, Karl and Tynia King, and Janet King; brothers, Chris, Justin, and Jeremy Scarborough; cousins and spouses, Sara and John Wind, Nicholas and Callie Kresta, Terri and Bobby Sagar, Richard and Minnie Green, Patrick and Jennifer King, Brian and Stacy King, Mary and Doug Staff, Erin and Kevin Sielhan, Ryan and Katie King, Leslie and Eric Quinnell, Matthew and Kesten King, Madeline and Tyler Colluro, Elyssa and Joshua Huggins.
A very special sincere thank you to all the wonderful caregivers, loving nurses and doctors that have cared for Allison and Denise over the last 40 years. To our extended family and close friends, thank you for holding our hands, the many hugs, and caring for our hearts during this time.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 5-00 PM - 7-00 PM at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 5518 Demel Street, Wallis, TX, with a rosary at 7-00 PM. Johnnie was born in Houston, Texas, on June 20, 1943, to the late Rollie Ahto Norris and Ida Maude Rhodes. She attended Kashmere Gardens schools. While at a birthday party for a mutual friend in Pleak, Texas, she met the love of her life, Melvin Klatt. They wrote love letters to each other for two years while Melvin served in the United States Air Force. Upon returning from the service, Melvin and Johnnie were married on November 26, 1958, eager to start a family of their own.
During the years, Melvin and Johnnie were members of the Austin County Saddle Club enjoying square dances on horseback, in their own and other area arenas, and weekend trail rides, sometimes by moonlight. In 1992, Melvin and Johnnie joined the Po.L.K. of A. (Polka Lover’s Klub of America, Texas Chapter) where they spent countless hours dancing and socializing, making lifetime friends. She loved providing cookies, cinnamon rolls, kolaches, and pigs-in-a-blanket, among other things, to her family and friends. She was the winner of the Kolache Klobase Festival in East Bernard for several years. There was never a family holiday that didn’t involve her baking at least five pies, always wanting to provide everyone’s favorites. Seeing other people happy always made her happy. This love of cooking and providing for others was portrayed as well through her employment with Sealy Schools as head cook/manager of the cafeteria. Tommie Ann wrote her life story and memories for us to share with you.
“I was born Tommie Ann Mudd in Shiner, TX on March 16, 1945, to parents Tommy Mudd and Eleanora Mary Warneke Mudd. I grew up on a ranch along the Guadalupe River, in Gonzales Texas. I found out later in life that I was part American Indian, through my DNA. I am very proud to be part of the Apache Nation. I had a great life, riding horses, earning my spending money by tending cattle, and helping feed 4,000 plus baby chickens before and after school. My father farmed, gardened, tended to his pecan orchard and raised chickens, for local businesses. We loved living along the river, where I picked up and sold pecans to earn extra spending money. We went camping, enjoyed cookouts and I learned my love of fishing, in the river, from my dad. Mama taught me how to cook and be a “good†girl and made sure we were always in Church. I sang in the Church and school choir, played the piano in Church (very badly), and taught Sunday school. Life was great. I graduated from Gonzales High School in 1963, where I participated in basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, and badminton and was a member of the Gonzales High School drill team. I was a member of the girls' athletics association and president of the Future Nurses Association in high school. I loved volunteering at the local nursing home and Warm Springs Rehabilitation. I loved anything medical-related, so I worked for our local physician, Dr. David Shelby in the summers answering the phone every day, five days a week, for $25 a week. I thought I was rich, and he and his wife inspired me to go to nursing school. I attended Robert B. Green School of Nursing and Trinity University San Antonio College. After receiving my Registered Nurses license, I worked at the Robert B. Green Hospital in San Antonio, in the Pediatric Unit for Abused Children, where I learned to love the children unconditionally (so sad) and that they never wanted to go back home. I received my certificate as an instructor in Cardiac Resuscitation and my certification in ACLS, was a member of the American Red Cross, received my certificate for EMS, member of the Austin County Police Officers Ladies Auxiliary, lifetime member of the Bellville Hospital Auxiliary, and Bluebonnet Society. In addition, in my spare time, I took 36 hours of acrylic and oil painting just for fun. The horse painting, I gave to my youngest granddaughter (because she loves horses) was done as an amateur. My other two granddaughters have flowers that I painted.
I met Jim Knesek at the bus station in San Antonio, one Friday, on my way home to Gonzales for the weekend. He was attending San Antonio College Mortuary School and was on his way home to Wallis. We immediately bonded and we kept in touch throughout college. One weekend, he showed up at my parents' house in his old car, a 1956 Chevy and he won the hearts of my Dad and my Mom. Reluctantly, I agreed to let him take me back to San Antonio (he was very pushy ha! ha!). I realized, after a while, that he was the love of my life and we married on August 21st, 1965, on his birthday…that way he wouldn't forget our anniversary. My second greatest love was working in surgery, as an RN. I loved working with all the medical personnel in Gonzales, San Antonio, Lufkin, Spring Branch, Wharton, and Bellville. I have met and loved all the people at all the hospitals that I have worked at and in all the Departments; ICU, CCU, SCU, Recovery Room, to ER Supervisor.
My greatest accomplishment was giving birth to our daughter Mandi and having my wonderful (son-to-me) son-in-law Jimmy, in my life. They gave us our awesome three Granddaughters, Meagan, Lauren, and Emily.
I am survived by my husband- Jim Knesek, Our Daughter- Amanda (Mandi) Lynn Knesek Zarzour and her husband Jim Zarzour of Bellville, Grandchildren- Meagan (Zarzour) Tielke and Husband Justin Tielke, Lauren Zarzour, and Emily Zarzour, Great Grandson- Colson Tielke. Brother- Lewis Mudd and Wife Tami of Sealy and their Children- Austin Mudd, Shane Mudd, and wife Deanna and their children Jordan and Camden. My sister Connie Morlocks children- Charlie Morlock and his wife Brandi and their son Ziggy and Craig Morlock and his Wife Crystal and their son Mason Morlock. As well as many more relatives and friends.
I was proceeded in death by my parents, Tommy and Eleanora Mudd, my sister Connie Lea Mudd Morlock, and brothers-in-law Mike Lane and David Shoemake".

Kocurek, Emil Charles "Randy Reets", Jr (13 Jun 1934 - 7 Feb 2023)

Veteran: Other/Unknown, CAPT, US Army/USAR Family- Father: Emil Julius Kocurek, Mother: Mary Matocha, Spouse: Dolores Dycus Cemetery: Calvary Cath Cem--Brenham References: Findagrave, GenFolks
Emil Charles Kocurek, Jr., better known as Randy Reets, peacefully passed away on February 7, 2023, at the age of 88 with his loving family by his side. Randy was born on June 13, 1934, near Wharton, Texas, to Emil Kocurek, Sr., and Mary (Matocha) Kocurek. In 1961, he married Dolores Dycus, and they had four children.
In his early years, his family often moved around and eventually settled in Sealy, where he graduated from high school in 1953. In 1957, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication from the University of Houston. During his time at the U of H, he adopted the name "Randy Reets", which became the stage name that the public knew him by. Following college, he served in the U.S. Army, initially as a Public Information Specialist, and later attained the rank of captain. He also served in the Reserves.
In 1958, Reets moved to Brenham and joined the staff at radio station KWHI. His radio career would span more than 60 years, most of which were at KWHI/KTTX and KLTR. He wore many hats in radio, including disc jockey, news director, sports director, operations manager, salesman, and sales manager.
But his passion was sports broadcasting. His ability to eloquently describe the game along with the atmosphere became Reets' trademark and endeared him to the people of Brenham and the surrounding areas. He served as the long-time play-by-play voice for the Brenham Cubs, Bellville Brahmas, Burton Panthers, Blinn Buccaneers, and Washington County Little League. During his career, he called games for nearly every high school in Washington and the surrounding counties, broadcasted games featuring future professional athletes, and called the action from the Little League World Series.
In addition to his love of sports, Reets was also an avid entertainer. Much of his life, he could be found on a stage. From his early college days on, he played in bands and eventually was the leader of Randy and the Rockets and then The Serenaders. His bands played at weddings, festivals, fraternity parties, city and private events, and much more, performing polkas, waltzes, country and western, and even some rock. The musical events he played numbered well into the thousands.
Reets also invested his time in entertainment and retail ventures. Some of the activities he created included The Washington County Opry, JAMBOX Disc Jockey Service, and Randy Reets Moonwalks. After retiring from radio, Reets operated Randy Reets Furniture for many years.
Even more important than his career was his dedication to the Catholic faith. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for more than 60 years and prayed the Rosary quite frequently. Many times, you could clearly see his servant's heart at work as he assisted others with errands, doctor's appointments, and even employment. Reets was a Third-Degree knight and also served as Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. As a KC member since 1961, he was recognized as an honorary lifetime member as well.
Reets is survived by his children Deidra Mearns, Kellen Kocurek, Chris Kocurek and wife Carolyn, and Amy Bentke and husband Phil; grandchildren Meredith Dunaway and husband Lance, Alex Mearns, Katelyn Kocurek, Kathleen Young and husband Ty, Cameron Kocurek, Reagan Bentke, and Cara Amelang and husband Kurt; great-grandchildren Isaac Dunaway, Tatum Young, and Kade Young; special cousin JoAnn Tatum; Dolores Kocurek; and numerous relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law Prentice Mearns.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters and his great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank these special friends for their love and help over the years- Nancy and James Fritz, Jenny Warchesik, Tracy Mikolajchak, Rio Barrera, Leo Barrera, Stoney Lacina, and Dr. William T. Gray.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel, located at 2300 Stringer Street, Brenham, Texas. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, located at 701 Church Street, Brenham, Texas. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Koehn, Fritz (10 Aug 1886 - 9 May 1966)
Family- Spouse: Melissa Ringener References: GenFolks
Fritz was a brother to Louise (Lizzie) Koehn, Kleibrink. When their widowed mother moved them to Brenham, Texas, Fritz had to work for his room and board with farmers. He was eight when his mother married Wilhelm Stegmann. At this time, I am not sure how old he was when he started working for his room and board. He worked for the Lahrmann and Schleinamann families. At one time, the farm he worked on was close to an "insane asylum". Fritz was left alone to tend the farm animals when the family went on trips and the screaming from the asylum was terrifying to him. When Fritz was fourteen years old, he was not with his mother, as stated in the 1900 census. His life was quite hard until he was grown. When he went to work for Georg Beerwinkel life was easier. He continued to work for Mrs. Beerwinkel, when Georg died. In 1908, Fritz and Melissa Ringener Beerwinkel married. Fritz loved children and he and Melissa had four. Fritz Koehn was on the Church Council at the St. James Lutheran Church at New Wehdem, Brenham, Texas. He and Melissa also donated land to the Church.
In later years, Fritz would drive to Waco, pick up Minnie (his sister) and her husband, Otto Dresner, and drive up to Clifton to visit Fritz and Louise Gaskamp Kleibrink.
Koehne, Sharon Dale (Taylor) (30 Jul 1939 - 30 May 2024)
Family- Father: Jack E Taylor, Mother: Thelma Wade, Spouse: William “Bill” Koehne Cemetery: Saint John Lutheran Church Cemetery References: GenFolks
It is with the heaviest of hearts that Sharon Dale Koehne went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 29th, 2024. She passed away peacefully at home just days after losing her wonderful companion “Baily†(her aging “Shih Tzuâ€).
Sharon Dale was born July 30th, 1939 in Houston Texas. She grew up with her beloved sister Beverly, brother Jack and her mother Thelma Wade and was a tremendously loving and adventurous young lady, able to light up a room with her beautiful smile and witty humor.
Sharon met her husband William “Bill†Koehne, in the early 60s and spent her years as a nurturing mother and wife. The two lived in Houston before moving south near the water. They spent many years of love raising their children in Bayou Vista, Texas as patriarchal members of this seaside community.
Sharon's proudest achievement in life was her family. Together, Sharon and Bill built a family on Pompano Street that could only be described by neighbors as both loving and loud. They worked as a team to raise much-loved children, care for a stream of pets, and welcome anyone and everyone into their home. They affectionately named the whole family crew “Warf Ratsâ€. The endless family gatherings, water adventures and camping trips built lasting relationships that are special family lore.
Sharon is survived by her loving sister Beverly Brown, (deceased husband Ray Brown Sr.); brother Don Ray Wilson, (wife Ellen); daughter Sherri Covin-Christensen, and sons Perry (wife Amy) and Walter Koehne (wife Donna).
Sharon joins now in heaven, her beloved husband William Frank Koehne, and her son Morris Dale Covin, mother Thelma Elberta Taylor, father Jack Edwin Taylor Sr., and brother Jack Edwin Taylor Jr.
Sharon, “MiMi†was a caring and passionate Sister, Aunt ; and a Grandmother to so many beautiful children. She was a great, great grandmother! Her eyes would light up when she spoke of her many crowned jewels.
MiMi always had a childlike awe and love of life. Whether it was riding motorcycles, sailing, fishing, hunting, or traveling. she truly had a special knack for enjoying all of the little things life has to offer and helping others do the same. This joy for life extended right up to the very end. She never ever wanted to put anyone out and her thoughts were for what she could do to ease your pain or discomfort despite her own ailing health.
Sharon loved life! She loved traveling to exotic locations with her daughter Sherri, helping her church community at St John's as a Sunday school teacher or serving on committees, racing motorcycles, raising cows and donkeys as pets, leading scouts, teaching children to water ski, catching the most fish (always), gardening, working as a waitress in hard times, working in a local school cafeteria, or supporting three generations of public servants and military leaders. She did it all with grace and beauty.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Mimi's funeral service on Friday, June 7th, 2024, at 10-00 am at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, 12488 Newberg Rd., Cat Spring 78933.
Followed by a reception at St John's Lutheran Church, 480 Ross St, Cat Spring Texas 78933.
Sharon loved flowers and plants, memorial donations can be sent to The Koehne Family 12344 FRANTZ RD, CAT SPRING, TX, 78933-5095. Or to the Funeral Home, at 842 E Main St (FM 529) Bellville, TX 77418
