Janet Faye (Zaskoda) Rapsilver was called home on August 13, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 9, 1948, in Bellville, Texas, to Harvel and Dessie May (Kollatschny) Zaskoda.
Janet attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School until the 8th grade and then attended and graduated from Sealy High School in 1966. Janet was a very outgoing and funny lady. She and her girls - Margaret, Jeanette, and Joyce- shared many fun adventures during their years of friendship. One thing was the Chinese fire drills in the cool Sherbert green car that she drove. Janet often told her kids the story of how when she turned corners, the doors would fly open.
Janet Faye was also very persistent. How else do you think she got Larry Rapsilver to notice her? Larry worked for Diestel's Service Station, and Janet would frequently pass by so that she could wave at him. He finally noticed her, and the rest is history. They were married on June 24, 1967, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. They were blessed with two children, Carolyn and Charles. The young family resided in San Felipe on a piece of property that was a gift from Larry's father.
Janet was employed by First National Bank in Bellville and later by Farmers State Bank and Texas Premier Bank in Brookshire. In her many years in banking, she held many positions. The one at which she excelled was proof machine operator, keying in check numbers and sorting checks. She was the fastest 10-key touch lady around.
Janet was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the KJZT Society #80. Bingo was her favorite pastime, and she and her daughter often played five days a week.
Janet was a wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She treasured her family and would do whatever needed to take care of them.
Janet is survived by her husband of 57 years, Larry Rapsilver, her daughter Carolyn Ritchey (Frank), her son Charles "Chuck" Rapsilver (Michelle), grandchildren Nicholas Rapsilver (Autumn), Andrew Rapsilver, Christopher Rapsilver, and Meredith Rapsilver, and great-grandchildren Birmingham and Beuchanan Rapsilver. Reese, Kinion Wilkerson (9 Jan 1842 - 19 Aug 1918)

Veteran: CWCSA, CAPT, 12th Texas Cavalry Family- Father: Fleming Sanders Reese, Mother: Nancy Whittington, Spouse: Martha Montgomery Cemetery: Oak Knoll Cemetery (C - 26 O4) References: FamilySearch, Findagrave, GenFolks
Death of Captain K. W. Reese At his house near Kenney, Captain K. W. Reese, after a brief illness, peacefully passed away on August 14th.
Captain Reese was born in Pike County, Alabama, January 9, 1842.
He came to Texas in 1849 and lived in Austin County nearly all of his long and eventful life. During the civil war he enlisted in Parsons' Regiment at Bastrop, the 12th Texas Cavalry, and continued in the bloody struggle to the end of the war.
He was married in 1870 to Miss Martha Montgomery. To this union five children were born, four of whom are still living- Mr Hoffman Reese, who resides at the old home, Mrs. E. W. Potter of Huntsville, Mrs. Woodson Tottenham and Miss Maud Reese.
When we laid his tired body to rest in Oak Knoll cemetery, we all felt that a noble citizen, a true patriot, and a friend to every man in need, was gone- but we mourn 'not as those who have no hope," for above all he was a Christian, and member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.
For many years he was active in the upkeep of the Bellville-Chap Hill camp grounds, where many hudred were converted to Christ. "When the trumpets sounded for him on the other side I am sure they were sounded by lips that he had taught to pray" -- and may his loved one and friends some day be there to hear.
G. Z. Sadler His Pastor (The funeral of Cap't K. W. Reese of Sempronius took place at Oak Knoll cemetery, Bellville, on Wednesday afternoon, August 14, Rev. G. Z. Sadler of the Methodist Church, formerly pastor at this place, officiating. All parts of this county were represented among those who came to pay the last tribute of respect to one of our oldest and best known citizens, and many friends were here from Brenham and other points. In spite of advancing years, Cap't. Reese was deeply interested in the active affairs of life, and was a member of the Council of Defense for Austin County. --Ed.) Among those attending the funeral of Cap't. K. W. Reese yesterday were four veterans of this civil war--F. Gieseke, L. Tesch, B. Eldridge and R. S. Bucer, who were brought down by C. L. Wilkins, in his car.

Kinion W. Reese- More than sixty years ago when Kinion Wilkerson Reese was a boy of about nine years, he accompanied his parents upon their immigration from Pike County, Alabama, to Texas, and the family home was established in Austin County, near the line of Washington County, with which now favored and progressive section of the state the name of Reese has been closely and worthily linked during the long intervening years, its representatives having played a large part in the furtherance of both social and industrial development and advancement. Reared and educated under the conditions and influences of the pioneer era in the history of Texas, Kinion W. Reese was one of the young men who went forth from this state to do valiant service in defense of the cause of the Confederacy in the Civil War, after the close of which he bent his energies earnestly to the winning of the victories which peace ever has in store--victories "no less renowned than war". From small beginnings in connection with agricultural industry, he worked his way forward toward the goal of success, and today he stands as one of the extensive landholders, influential citizens and substantial men of affairs in Austin County, where he commands inviolable place in the confidence and esteem of a community in which virtually his entire life thus far has been spent, his well improved homestead place being situated about six miles from the Village of Chapel Hill, which has long held prestige as one of the important educational centers of this part of the state.
Fleming S. Reese, father of him whose name introduces this article, was born in Virginia, in 1812, and was a scion of a family that was founded in the historic Old Dominion in the colonial period of our national history. Such were the exigencies and conditions of time and place that he received in his youth only limited educational advantages, and as a young man he initiated independent operations as a farmer in Alabama, where also was solemnized his marriage to Miss Nancy Whittington, whose father, Burrel Whittington, was a representative of a South Carolina family that early became settled in Alabama and that became actively concerned with agricultural industry in that state, though Burrel Whittington never became a slave holder.
In coming with his family to Texas, in 1849, Fleming S. Reese voyaged across the Gulf of Mexico and disembarked in the port of Houston, from which point he transported his family and little stock of household effects, etc., overland to the frontier district of Austin County, where he settled near the line of Washington County, which at that time was still a part of Austin County. He erected his primitive pioneer dwelling on the Stevenson League, where the fine homestead of his son, Kinion W. Reese, is now established. He and his family moved to Colorado County in the fall of 1865, and there they spent the remainder of their lives--earnest, intelligent, industrious and God-fearing folk who lived up to the measure of their opportunities and who merited and received the respect and good will of their fellow men. Fleming S. Reese reclaimed and developed a homestead farm and gained a fair measure of temporal prosperity through his well directed endeavors. His political support was given to the Democratic Party and during the Civil War, for service in which his advanced age rendered him ineligible, he was in full sympathy with the cause of the Confederacy, which he supported by every means in his power, two of his sons having gone forth as loyal soldiers in the Confederate ranks. Both he and his wife were worthy members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, the former having passed to eternal rest in 1870 and Mrs. Reese having survived him by many years, as her death occurred in 1898. Of their children, the eldest was John, who became a prosperous agriculturist in Lavaca County where he served in various local offices of public trust and where he continued to reside until his death- he was survived by a number of children, and he was the elder of the two sons who were found as loyal and valiant soldiers of the Confederacy in the war between the states of the North and the South. Sarah, the second of the children who attained to maturity, became the wife of George W. Houchins and was a resident of Lavaca County at the time of her death. Kinion W. of this review, was the next in order of birth. Mary is the wife of Spencer Townsend, of Yoakum, DeWitt County; Nancy is the widow of James Styers and resides in the City of San Antonio; Virginia is the wife of J. Pinkney Williams of Yoakum; Martha Elizabeth became the wife of W. S. Woolsey and resided in the Town of Yoakum at the time of her death, June 3, 1915. Burrel and Samuel lost their lives as a result of the Reese-Townsend feud and were residents of Columbus, Colorado County, at the time of their death; and Walter was a resident of the City of Houston at the time of his death. Fleming S. Reese, Jr. is a resident of Yoakum, Texas.
Kinion W. Reese was born in Pike County, Alabama, on the 9th of January, 1842, and thus was nine years old at the time of the family removal to the frontier of Texas, where his youthful fancies and tastes found satisfactory pabulum in the varied experiences of pioneer life, and where he early began to assist materially in the work of the home farm, the while his educational advantages were those afford in the rural schools of the neighborhood. he gained due familiarity with the various details of agricultural and livestock industry and was a sturdy young man of nineteen years when the Civil War was precipitated upon a divided nation. His loyalty to the Southern cause was most insistent and he soon subordinated all other interests to tender his aid in defense of the cause of the Confederacy. In the autumn of 1861 he enlisted as a private in Company D, Twelfth Texas Cavalry, which was commanded by Col. William H. Parsons, with Captain Highsmith at the head of Company D. From Texas this gallant and strapping cavalry regiment was ordered to Little Rock, Arkansas, and with his command Mr. Reese took part in the engagement at Soda Mound, Arkansas, as did he also in every engagement in the Mansfield campaign--from Yellow Bayou to Alexandria. Soon after the close of this spirited campaign he was granted furlough, which he passed at his home, and when he rejoined his regiment it was stationed at Silver Lake, Arkansas. Thereafter he took part in no more engagements with the enemy, and at the time of the close of the war, he was absent from his regiment, as he had been detailed as a witness in a court martial at Hempstead, Texas, and was not able to rejoin his company before its disbandment. He proved himself a faithful soldier and was always ready to respond promptly to any duty assigned to him, whether in battle or in connection with other activities of his command. Like his comrades he endured many hardships while serving as a soldier in the ranks, and he has stated in later years that when he set forth for his home after the close of the war he considered it very fortunate that he had been identified with the cavalry arm of the service, since he was thus able to retain his horse and saddle and to gain by this means transportation to his destination; otherwise he would have had to make the journey on foot and barefooted at that, since his shoes had reached absolute disintegration, besides which his clothing was in tatters.
After the close of the war all industrial and other productive activities in Texas felt the depression that was so general throughout the prostrate South, and under these conditions Mr. Reese, the youthful veteran of the war, employed his energies to the best possible advantage and consulted ways and means for making advancement toward independence. The first year after his return home, he worked land "on shares" for a Methodist clergyman, and his indefatigable industry and well directed endeavors were not denied a due measure of reward, for within a few years he had established himself as one of the progressive and successful agriculturists of Austin County. He has since continued to keep pace with the march of civic and industrial advancement in this section of the state and on the Stevenson League he owns 1,100 acres of well improved land, besides an adjoining tract of 300 acres, in other surveys. He now has about 350 acres under effective cultivation, and he gives his attention also to successful operations in the raising and handling of excellent grades of livestock, so that his fine landed estate may be termed with virtually equal propriety either a farm or a stock ranch. The energy and good judgment of Mr. Reese have been manifest in the specially progressive policies which he has brought to bear in all of his activities, and at times his farm or homestead has been the center of differentiated industrialism, as on the same he has maintained a cotton gin, a general store, a sorghum mill, and a blacksmith shop, besides which the old ante-bellum post office of Sempronius was located on his place until its service was finally discontinued, at the time of the institution in this locality of the rural free delivery service, Mr. Reese thus having had the distinction of being the last to service as postmaster of Sempronius.
In politics, Mr. Reese is well fortified in his convictions and is aligned as a stalwart support of the principles and policies of the democratic party, in the local affairs of which he has wielded not a little influence in Austin County, where he served for some time as its precinct chairman, besides attending the county conventions with marked regularity in earlier years. He has, however, never sought or become a candidate for elective office of a political nature. He and his family hold membership in the Methodist Episcopal Church and the only fraternal organization with which he ever became affiliated was the Knights of Honor.
In Austin County, on the 14th of December, 1870, was solemnized the marriage of Mr. Reese to Miss Martha Montgomery, who was born in Gibson County, Indiana, on the 28th of October, 1843, and who was thus about ten years of age when, in 1852, her parents removed from the old Hoosier State to Texas, where her parents, McGrady and Minerva (Lucas) Montgomery, established their home on a pioneer farm in Austin County, where they passed the residue of their lives and where Mr. Montgomery achieve definite success and prosperity through his long association with agricultural pursuits, the Montgomery family having been one of prominence and influence in community affairs in this section of the state. Of the children of Mcgrady and Minerva Montgomery the eldest of those surviving is Miss Margaretta, who maintains her home at Edna, Jackson County; Mrs. Reese was the next in order of birth; Florence is the widow of Nehemiah Cochran and resides at Jacksonville, Texas; Mrs. America Crump resides in Austin County; Carrie became the wife of John Crawford, who is now deceased; and Fielding was a resident of Edna, Jackson County, at the time of his decease.
The supreme loss and bereavement in the life of Mr. Reese was that which came when his cherished and devoted wife was summoned to eternal rest, her death having occurred on the 2nd of March, 1910, and her memory being revered by all who came within the sphere of her immediate influence. Kinion Wilkerson Reese, Jr., the eldest son of the children of Mr. and Mrs. Reese, died in 1900, at the age of twenty-two years. Minerva is the wife of Woodson F. Tottenham, engaged in farming at Chapel Hill and their children are Kinion, Lydia, and Edwin; Margaret is the wife of Rev. Eugene Watson Potter, a clergyman of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and they reside in the City of Houston, their children being Reese and Eugene; Miss Maude remains with her father at the old homestead, as does also Hoffman, who wedded Miss Kathyrine Dodd, their children being three in number--Erette, Martha, and Kathyrine.
Additional Comments-
Kinion is buried in Oak Knoll Cemetery, Bellville, Austin County, Texas. His mother, Nancy Whittington Rees, is buried in the same plot. His father, Fleming Sanders Rees, is buried in the Rees family cemetery in Colorado County, Texas.

Kinion W. Reese: More than sixty years ago when Kinion Wilkerson Reese was a boy of about nine years, he accompanied his parents upon their immigration from Pike County, Alabama, to Texas, and the family home was established in Austin County, near the line of Washington County, with which now favored and progressive section of the state the name of Reese has been closely and worthily linked during the long intervening years, its representatives having played a large part in the furtherance of both social and industrial development and advancement.
Death of Mrs. K. W. Reese Last Wednesday morning at 11:45 o'clock the angel of death entered the home of Mr. K. W. Reese, at Semponius, and took therefrom the loving wife and mother, Mrs. K. W. Reese. A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled:
A place is vacant in that home,
Which never can be filled.
For nearly a year Mrs. Reese had been in feeble health, and although she was not expected to live, still her death came quite unexpectedly. An angel came and bore her away, to bloom again, within the Gardens of Light, beside the House of Many Mansions. Aching hearts that grive, weep not as those who have no faith; look up to where she blooms in Heaven's own fields, so sweet, so good, so pure, so true. O lily of immaculate purity, how fit an emblem of her noble life; that life so filled with good deeds and loving thoughts, fading like the lily, sweet, patient, uncomplaining and resigned. Dear one, we miss thee sore and yet--in Heaven we know that all that is well. No storms, nor shocks can touch thee there: serene to wait thro' all the years. Besides her sorrowing husband, son and three daughters, she leaves quite a number of other relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Her funeral took place from the family home at Sempronius Friday morning. A large funeral cortege following the remains to Oak Knoll cemetery at Bellville, where they were tenderly laid to rest by the side of her son, Kinion, who died ten years ago. The obsequies were conducted by Rev. I. W. Campbel.

The Sealy News, February 26, 2020-
Bernice Theresa Krause Reibenstein, 93, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2020 in Sealy, Texas.
Bernice Theresa was born an only child to parents Fritz and Mary Ann Albrecht Krause in Nelsonville, Texas on October 8, 1926. She was baptized in November of 1926 at the New Wehdem Lutheran Church at New Wehdem, Texas. Her confirmation was in May of 1940 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellville, Texas. Bernice attended school in Nelsonville and then graduated from Bellville High School in May of 1945.
Bernice married Leslie Reibenstein on December 6, 1947 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellville. Together they owned and operated the City Café in Sealy from 1950-52. Along with many years of farming, ranching and custom hay baling. Bernice and Leslie owned and operated Sharon's Variety Store in Sealy from 1960-1972. Leslie passed away on November 27, 1971.
It was in 1972 that Bernice joined the Sealy United Methodist Church and became the Church Secretary there for three years. She then was the Church Secretary for twenty-two years for the Bellville United Methodist Church. Bernice remained a faithful member of the United Methodist Women of Sealy, serving some of these years as secretary, and was also a member of the Chancel Choir for 30 years. Added to the list of her many church affiliates, Bernice served as a member of the Texas Annual Conference in Houston, Texas for 12 years. Anyone who knew Bernice knew her love of the Lord and of her church. Bernice faithfully studied her Bible lesson each and every morning up until the last few years when her health began to decline.
Bernice, better known to us as “Granny†loved her family. As she said, “we were her lifeâ€Â. She was always interested in what everyone was doing and loved to attend their sporting events, especially football. And she loved to watch the news and talk politics! However, what became most important to Granny was to prepare lunch each and every Saturday for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and any extras we decided to bring along. She would cook all morning in preparation of her brood coming over and she would always provide enough for all of us even when she didn't even know how many were coming! Granny knew how to bring us all together at her table. Now Granny is being served at “HIS†table because she came prepared. We are blessed to have many wonderful memories and her everlasting love to cherish.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Fritz & Mary Krause; her husband, Leslie Reibenstein; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mildred & Leroy Hillboldt, and Esther & Hilton Luedecke.
Bernice is survived by daughter, Sharon Brandes and husband, Jack; and son, Harold Dean Reibenstein and wife, Connie; grandchildren, Jeff Brandes and wife, Jennifer, Ashley Hewson and husband, Richard, Ryan Dean Reibenstein and wife, Tara; great-grandchildren, Brennan, Breanna, and Baylee Brandes, Riley and Hunter Hewson, and soon to arrive, Jaxson Dean Reibenstein; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Delores & Clarence Dittert; godchild, Marsha Tipp; and numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends that visited her regularly. These visits were greatly appreciated by Bernice and her family!

Remmert, Gene Alton (28 Aug 1936 - 7 Nov 2020)

Veteran: Korea, US Army, 1955-58 Family- Father: Alvin Otto Remmert, Mother: Leona Lucille Meinecke, Spouse: Betty Cemetery: Sealy Cemetery References: Findagrave, GenFolks
Gene Alton Remmert, 84, of Sealy, Texas, went to his heavenly home in the morning on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Gene graduated from Sealy High School in 1954 where he was elected as senior class president, received an American Legion Citizenship Award, sang in the choir, and was on the football, baseball, and track teams. After graduating, he attended Blinn College where he was a bass soloist in the choir and was voted runner up to Mr. Buccaneer in 1956.
Gene honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. He completed basic training at Fort Carson, Colorado where he was named top trainee of his Company. He was stationed for 18 months in Germany with the 12th Combat Engineer Battalion, and was selected to attend the US Army Engineer School for Mines and Demolitions Warfare. A dedicated student, he finished as the top graduate and later taught classes back at Battalion.
Upon returning home, Gene worked at Cameron Iron Works in Houston and Cypress for 35 years, between 1958-1992. While at Cameron, Gene was a hard, loyal worker who ascended the company ladder. As the superintendent of Manufacturing- Ingot and Bar Products, he was involved in projects that manufactured the materials for such devices as the Titan IIIC solid fuel tanks for the moon shot, the Apollo 13 oxygen system, and the Trieste Recovery Module for the lost Trident nuclear submarine. And as the manager of Industrial Engineering- Ingot, Bar, and Pipe, he developed engineering database computer programs for cost development. After Cameron shut down its melting operations in 1986, Gene moved to a new role in procurement.
He loved and was enthusiastically involved in his hometown community where he always kept busy. He served on the county school board for four years, was very involved at Trinity Lutheran, holding various positions over the years, and was president of several local institutions, including the Sealy JC Chapter at the time that Levine City Park was developed, Sealy Little League when the Peewee and Minor League programs were developed, and, as a Brangus farmer and breeder, was also President of the Texas Bluebonnet Brangus Association.
A mindful and skilled Brangus breeder, he was one of the five Brangus breeders who developed the Angus Plus Breed that is now known as Ultra Blacks. In 1983, he bred and raised the International Brangus Futurity Grand Champion Bull, BG Vaquero (or, as he called him, Bubba). Gene also went on to win the 1985 Outstanding Conservation Rancher Award. He was a board member of the Austin County Fair for eight years, and served for two years as the Livestock Superintendent. In addition to all of this, he was a member of the Sealy Volunteer Fire Department for over ten years, and could be found, on many mornings sharing coffee with close friends at the Truck Stop.
Gene and Betty, his wife of 62 years, built their home and farm together in Sealy in 1973 where he achieved all of his childhood ambitions- to raise good cattle, good grass, and good hay, and to marry a wonderful, loving Christian wife, and raise a family.
Gene was a strong and loving Christian husband, father, and grandfather who touched the lives of many, whether through his singing in the church choir, his service to his community, or his storytelling. He is survived and remembered lovingly by his wife, Betty; his children, Clint and Tammy; and his five grandchildren.
We have too many happy, cherished memories with our Papa to list them all here. A few we all share are afternoons riding on his lap in the tractor, fetching him cold beers from the fridge, and watching storms roll in with him from the garage. We may have known just how to press his buttons, but it was always out of love. And, of course, Papa was a good sport. He taught us how to have big hearts, serve God, love our families, work hard, and cherish all the good we have on Earth. We'll carry him with us for the rest of our lives, and will always keep telling his stories. We love you, Papa. Love, your tootlehanses- Trent, Hannah, Garrett, Sam, and Nicole.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 11, 2020, from 5-00 PM - 7-00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 402 Atchison St., Sealy, TX. A funeral service will be held at the church at 10-00 AM on Thursday, November 12, 2020. Burial will be in Sealy Cemetery. Due to Covid regulations, masks and social distancing will be required.

On June 9, 1978, Diane married the love of her life and soul mate, Jack Rhine. Together they loved to travel and enjoy life. Their adventures took them across the country from Maine to Colorado and Wyoming, as well as one of her favorite destinations - Alaska - which they visited more than once.
Diane, although born a city girl, became a country girl at heart when she moved to Industry, Texas in 1984. She enjoyed working with cattle and a simpler country life. As with any new adventure, she immediately immersed herself into the community.

In this pursuit, she joined the Spencer Historical Society and served as treasurer. She was a proud member of DRT - The Daughters of the Republic of Texas and DAR - The Daughters of the American Revolution.
On top of all of her accomplishments and achievements, the crowning moment of her life was the birth of her grandson Parker, which gave her the honored title of “Sugarâ€Â. Countless hours were spent playing, painting, exploring, and living life through the eyes of a child. She relished every moment spent with the center of her universe. Her only regret was that the countless plans she had for the two of them will go unfulfilled.

Rosenbaum, David (10 Oct 1957 - 26 Aug 2024)
Family- Father: Ray Rosenbaum, Mother: Henrietta, Spouse: Donna Jones References: GenFolks COD: Heart attack
The Bible says that David was “a man after God’s own heartâ€. Of course, this is in reference to King David but we believe this is also true of our beloved David Rosenbaum.
David went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 26, 2024. He passed away in his home from a massive heart attack. David was a lifelong Needville resident and well-known and loved in the Needville community. David was born on October 10, 1957.
David is preceded by the death of his father, Ray Rosenbaum, and is survived by his wife Donna Jones Rosenbaum, Mother, Henrietta Rosenbaum, children, daughter Terrin Pagel (Scott Pagel), and son Bret Rosenbaum. Grandchildren: J’Lynn Esman, Lane Rosenbaum, Luke Rosenbaum and Blayke Pagel. Sister, Shirley Fishbeck (Frank), brother Alan Rosenbaum (Sharon), Nieces and Nephews, Jennifer Fishbeck, Dustin Rosenbaum, Megan Rosenbaum, Taylor Rosenbaum and multiple aunts, cousins, in-laws and great nieces and nephews. David and his family have been lifelong members of the Methodist Church in Needville.
David graduated from Needville High School in 1977 and then went on to graduate from the Columbia School of Broadcasting. When David completed Columbia, he then started a radio job in Monroe, Louisiana. After living in Louisiana for a while David returned to Needville and went to work at Jefferson Sulphur Plant and shortly after that went to work with Miller Beer at Delmar Distributing.
After David left Miller, he went to work with his father and brother-in-law’s company Rex Mechanical in 1995 and stayed there until he retired at the age of 62 in 2020.
In 1980, David met the love of his life Donna and once they started dating, they were destined for marriage, and they were married in Needville at the Methodist Church on November 29, 1981.
David and Donna enjoyed life and in 1983 had their first child, a daughter, Terrin, and in 1987 their son Bret. They have lived on Union Street in Needville for 35+ years.
David loved sports. He was an avid fan of the Houston Oilers and Houston Texans, Astros, College Football, Houston Rockets, College Basketball, Needville High School football, and other sports. You name the sport, and David knew something about the team, players, and their records. His love for sports took him to travel to games in Houston and other areas of Texas. When Needville went to the playoffs David was there. David also would enjoy a good bet on a game now and then. He was known to have a couple of televisions going at home for different NFL/College games going on at the same time.
David also enjoyed playing pool with his wife and family. Fishing and traveling with his best friend, Matt Barger, was always a favorite pastime for David. David loved his family. He loved fishing with his brother, Alan, and taking his son and grandsons fishing too. David and Donna would have their children in Needville sports and attend most games they played.
David commitment to his family and friends was extraordinarily consistent. He would do anything for people and was always there to help. He loved God first, followed quickly by his family and his neighbors more than himself. It wasn’t unusual for David to spend all weekend at family events; weddings, backyard BBQs, family and friend’s birthdays, or just a nice visit at their home.
After retirement, David kept himself busy with his family and hobbies. He was constantly doing things with his children and his grandchildren. Just like with his children, David attended sporting and school events for his grandchildren. He took them fishing and to sporting events frequently. In addition to sports, fishing, travel and festivities, David shared his time with his sister Shirley and brother Alan taking care of their beloved Mom, Henrietta. These were special times for David on his weekly visits with his Mom at home.
As stated earlier, David Rosenbaum too was “a man after God’s own heartâ€. Because he loved God and believed God, David knew that the way he treated his wife, children, grandkids, family, and neighbors was a direct reflection of his heart.
After his passing, we know David was smiling that wonderful smile and that the Lord was smiling back and confirming that David was a good and faithful servant for His glory.

THURSDAY, JUNE 15, 1933
Miss Irene Ruff Died Last Saturday
Saturday morning, June 10, at 11-05 o'clock death relieved the suffering of Miss Irene Ruff, as her spirit went out to meet the Creator, whom she had prepared to meet many years earlier in life. Death followed an illness of only a few days, although she had not been in perfect health for quite awhile. A fall from a table in the home two weeks ago injured her and that is believd to have agravated the malady that was working on her and caused her serious illness and in the end, death.
Miss Ruff was born in Galveston July 18, 1873 and was nearing her 60th year. She spent a long period of her life at Sealy where both parents died and were buried. She was never married, and for the past twenty-five years had lived in Lampasas, keeping house for her brother, George R. Ruff, who has been with the Santa Fe here all that time. She was a quiet, unassuming woman who was dearly loved by all who were closely associated with her. She had been a member of the Episcopal church since a young girl and lived a true christian life.
Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Wentworth A. Riemann, at the home Saturday evening at 8-00 o'clock. The body was then carried to Sealy and services conducted at the grave Sunday morning it having been her request that she be buried by her parents when she passed away. The body was accompanied to Sealy by her brother, her neice, Miss Maurine Zaring, whom she and Mr. Ruff have reared from a small child and Rev. Riemann.
Besides her brother, Geroge R., and her neice, Miss Zaring, deceased is survived by another brother, C. O Ruff, and a nephew, R. H. Ruff, of Ft. Worth. These men and their wives were here for the funeral service Saturday evening.
The Record joins the many friends of the loved ones of this good woman in sympathy in this hour of deep sorrow.
