Farley, Henry Forest (abt 1790 - abt 1833)

Author: Virginia Crilley

Henry Forrest Farley (?1790-1834) was probably the son of (Henry) Archer Farley (1766-1819) and his mother probably Ann Nancy Robertson married 29 Nov.1789 in Charlotte, Va. A descendant, Elmira Susan Grimes Day, passes along family lore that Archer served in the Revolutionary War and had his name tatooed on his arm.

Henry F. was probably the grandson of Forrest Farley (born 1717 or 1737) Bristol Parish, Henrico, Va. mar Mary Thompson. Forrest died April 1767 Chesterfield, Va)

The book "Charlotte County ... Rich Indeed" Published Charlotte County Board of Supervisors (1979) states Henry F. Farley was a deputy sheriff from 1811-1813 and an Ordinary .

Henry Forrest Farley married Nancy Ellen White Nov 2, 1814 Mecklenburg County VA.

Henry and Nancy Ellen had four daughters, two of which died in infancy. The two surviving daughters were Mary Ann Jane Farley (1818-Feb 1854 MS) and Elmira Susan "Myra" (July 15, 1820-Aug 19, 1889 Tx)

They must have both had adventurous spirits as they began their trek Westward to unsettled lands. Several other Virginia families probably moved along with them.

Alabama was just being settled at that time. Alabama was first included in the Territory of Mississippi 1798, Territory of Alabama 1817 and achieved statehood in 1819.

After leaving Virginia, they lived in Lawrence County Al and both daughters were born there.

After living in AL for about 13 years, the call for settlement of Texas and the availability of land caused them to head to Texas around 1831.

The story is that they left their eldest daughter, Mary Ann to attend school perhaps with relatives or friends. She would have been about 13. They took their younger daughter, Elmira (age 11 years old) with them.

Henry applied for a Texas Land Grant (1 league and 1 labor for families) in 1832, but died in 1834 before he could receive the title.

Mary Ann Jane Farley "eloped" with Thomas Harper Booth around 1833 (probably in Lawrence Co. AL). Thomas had previously been married to This couple moved around quite a bit, living in Itawamba County, MS (about 60 miles west of Lawrence, AL), and even in Texas, Austin Co. for short periods of time.

Family story, "Mary Ann cried for a whole year because they had no slaves to do the work in Texas."

Mary Ann and Thomas Harper had six sons and two daughters.

Elmira Susan married Frederick Miller Grimes of Washington Co. Tx on Jan 29, 1838, probably at the home of her mother, Nancy living in nearby Austin County. They settled on their farm on the county line of Washington/Austin.

Nancy Ellen White Farley, remarried around 1838 to Henry ? /Obadiah?/Josh Hudson. The court records show that Nancy appointed Isaac M. Pennington to pursue her husband's Texas Land Grant. The courts ruled in favor of the daughters, and Frederick M. Grimes proceeded with the land claim.

Family story: When Nancy Ellen died (aft 1838) her daughter Elmira Susan couldn't attend the funeral because of the high creeks due to heavy rains.

As "heirs of Henry Farley" the daughters received land in what is now Coryell County In 1850 when Fort Gates (later Gatesville) was set-up with soldiers to protect the settlers, Elmira and Frederick moved there.

In 1852 they sold this land to their son, Samuel, and moved to land in the southeast corner of Coryell County.

Several deeds are made with the joint signatures of Elmira and Mary Jane and their respective husbands.

Ernest Feik passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. He was born in Sealy, Texas on September 5, 1942, to parents Ernest and Ann Feik.

Ernest later attended Lamar High School in Rosenberg, Texas. After high school, he met the love of his life Joan Brast of Sealy. He often told people that after their first date, he knew she would be his last love. They were married in Sealy on July 25, 1965, until her death in 2007. Ernest and Joanie were both lifelong members of Sealy Immaculate Conception Church.

Ernest had a servant's heart and served in multiple organizations including the Sealy Volunteer Fire Department, Sealy Knights of Columbus, and Immaculate Conception Church. After her death, Ernest immersed himself in activities with the church and with the Sealy Knights of Columbus. Being a retired carpenter from Brown and Root gave him the skills to help with countless construction projects for both organizations. He and his crew of friends were never afraid to tackle any project needed.

Ernest also had a lifelong attraction for most outdoor activities, whether that be hunting fishing, or even water skiing, but the Texas coast was by far his most beloved spot. Ernest didn’t go fishing, he went catching. If anyone ever doubted that, he had the pictures to prove it.

Feux, Linda Sue (Stromatt) (20 Aug 1942 - 30 Mar 2024)

Family- Father: Jack Stromatt, Mother: Anne, Spouse: Tommy Feux Cemetery: Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church References: GenFolks

Linda Feux, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 30th. She was 81 years old.

Linda was born on August 20, 1942, in Houston, to Anne and Jack Stromatt, the third of four children. She grew up in Bellaire where she had great adventures with her siblings. As a Girl Scout leader and camp counselor at Camp Arnold, she was known for her ability to paddle a canoe and crack a bullwhip. Linda, a double major at Loyola University in New Orleans, met Tommy Feux at a watermelon party in City Park. He was a mediocre barkeep at the Key Club on Napoleon Ave and a fifth-year senior with irresistible charm. During her Senior year, Tommy pulled up to the library to surprise her, before he could get a word out, she said to him “You bought me a car,” and she was right. He bought her a red convertible MG as an engagement gift. She loved that car as much as she loved him.

Linda and Tommy married on August 8, 1964, in Bellaire and went on to have three girls, Stephanie, Susannah, and Jessica, who grew up to be three strong, independent women and raised amazing children of their own. Linda and Tommy were eventually blessed with 8 grandchildren who are the pride and joy of their lives.

When the girls were young, Linda tolerated Tommy's love of sailing as they traveled across the country to compete in regattas. They loved camping and logged thousands of miles squeezed into a VW Camper. Over the years, they had a rainbow of VW vans that could often be seen in the driveway on the corner of Mary Bates and Sharpcrest Lane.

Linda loved to play tennis and built lifelong friendships. She treasured her girlfriends and loved traveling with them. While the group slowly grew smaller and the trips were less frequent, those memories remained precious to her.

Linda's life was marked by her dedication to her family and her community. In 1990, when the youngest went off to college, Linda and Tommy left Houston for an old farmhouse in Austin County, where she invented Farmhouse Chic. The Farm was perfectly positioned for seeing bluebonnets, relaxing on the porch, and hosting hordes of children, grandchildren, and friends who were made to feel like family.

Linda had great style. She perfectly coordinated her outfit, the season, and her living room. In addition to inventing Farmhouse Chic, she perfected a Gulf Coast version of the “Coastal Grandmother” look. With her eye for interior design, a sewing machine, and a hammer, she created a home that drew her family and friends in like a warm hug and made them want to return again and again.

She lit up a room with her boundless energy and enthusiasm, championing social justice and civic causes throughout her life. She came to the country to relax, but never got around to it, instead spending her time leading efforts to preserve Austin County's heritage. She was a founding member of the Boys and Girls Club of Bellville, spearheaded the effort to restore the Bellville Turnverein, and was the driving force behind the Bellville Historical Society's Stephen F. Austin bust, among many other accomplishments.

She went to school at the old St. Agnes in Houston and graduated from Loyola with a degree in English Literature and History. She worked as an equal partner to Tommy in a variety of jobs including teaching Senior English at St. Agnes, teaching sewing at Foley's, and writing a couture sewing book. As the girls entered high school, she realized they needed to figure out how to pay for college. Legend has it, that after working part-time at National Petrographic Services she made an offer to buy the business, funding the down payment by selling her car and riding her bike to work. Years later, she was nominated to the top 100 female business owners and has served as a mentor for countless young entrepreneurial women.

Beyond her professional achievements, Linda's greatest joy was found in her role as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved a party. When she died, she was surrounded by her husband, daughters, and her grandchildren who were all gathering at the Farm to celebrate the Easter holiday with her.

Linda's legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind her beloved Tom Feux, her girls, Stephanie, Susannah, and Jessica, and their spouses John Araiza, Don Porr, and Ken Harris, grandchildren Madison Araiza, John Thomas Araiza, Sam Araiza, Liam Porr, Ella Porr, Thea Porr, Hayden Harris, and Nathan Harris as well as her siblings Elizabeth Szabo, Richard Stromatt, and David Stromatt. She leaves a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Though Linda is no longer with us in person, she is watching us celebrate her with great pride and more than a little bit of FOMO.

A reception at the Bellville Turnverein immediately following the service. Lunch will be served.

A MASONIC GIANT DIES

Leon Fisher died Tuesday, May 18, peacefully, in his sleep.

If anyone in Texas can be called a Masonic giant, it would be he. During his 81 years of life he instructed countless dozens of young and aspiring members of the Ancient and Accepted Order of Masonry. He lived by the many precepts and examples of the Order and was never too busy to give good and wholesome instruction to others.

Because he lived a full and fruitful life, it is hard to grieve at his death, yet all of us who knew him for his great character and devotion, cannot help feeling a deep sense of loss. But if there is a Heaven, I am quite sure that this great gentleman is there.

He will be sorely missed, yet his influence on the lives of so many, many people, will endure as long as history.

Yes, Leon was a true giant in the field of Masonry, and in many other fields. I loved the fellow, quite as I love his survivors. May the grace of God be with him and his family, now and always. -FWZ-

INTERESTING OLD TIMERS

At 93 years, Mrs. Grat Fisher, Sr., known to her friends as "Aunt Mat," has a vivid memory of earlier days and can tell many interesting stories of slaves, Indians and the times when Bellville was a small settlement of six or seven families.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Spence and was born in Sumpter County, Ala., on April 7, 1847.

According to Mrs. Fisher, her father was a circuit rider and received his calling to the ministry in this way- Mr. Spence had been trapped by a pack of wolves and sought refuge in a tree. He remained up in the branches of the tree several hours and it was only after a sincere promise to his Lord to become a preacher that the wolves left and he climbed down and went home. From that time on he was a Methodist preacher and a teacher.

At the age of eight, Martha Ann Spence and her family left Alabama for Smith County, Texas. She says she remembers when the Indians would bring baskets of corn and potatoes around to sell to settlers. When she was about 13 years old her family moved to Harris county and lived for a short time at San Jacinto, then they moved on into Austin county.

It was during the Civil war that she met Grat Fisher. One of her five brothers, John, brought the rosy-cheeked young Dutchman home with him on a furlough. He had been wounded the arm. It was a case of love at first sight.

They became engaged and after the war rode horseback to Frelsburg where they were married by a Catholic priest. Martha Ann Fisher was not much of a housewife as a young bride of 18 because she had been cared for by slaves, but with the help of a Negro and his wife she soon learned to spin and accomplish the many other tasks necessary in those days.

Mr. Fisher had had his hogs and cattle stolen during the war and during Reconstruction days he farmed and started another herd of cattle and built a log cabin for his bride.

It was at this time that he began a business that is still in the family in Bellville. He, with the help of several Negroes, butchered and sold his meat from house to house by ox-cart. Later his son, Ben Fisher, became owner of the meat market he started.

Eight children grew to manhood and womanhood. They are Ben, Gertrude, (Mrs. A. P. Sutton), Gus, Roxanna (Mrs. Luther Butler), Ellen, (Mrs. W. J. Ralph), Belle (Mrs. Louis Butler), Will and Edgar.

The Fishers bought Judge Crump's house, which later became known as the Fisher home. Grat Fisher died at the age of 72.

Among the many things this fine lady cherises is a postoak (overcup) grown from an acorn which her sweetheart, Grat, brought here from Waller County. This is now a huge tree growing on the premises where Aunt Mat built her home some years ago after he former home was destroyed by fire.

Aunt Mat is active for her age and her eyes are bright and mischievous as she sings "The Yellow Rose of Texas" or tells a tale that will delight her listener. More remarkable yet is the story that this old lady, who will be 94 in April, may be found on a bright sunny day down at the ranch with a fishing pole and hook cast in the water. fishing away!

Leona married Alvin John Flentge on November 25, 1937 also at St. John Lutheran Church, Bellville.

Leona was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who spent her life doing for her family. She worked in her garden every day raising all kinds of vegetables and fruits. She canned her produce, made jams and jellies, and baked delicious bread, cakes, pies and cookies to share with her family. For holidays she made her delicious sugar cookies frosted with egg white frosting and covered with sprinkles or pecans. She was also known for her famous Angel Food Cake that she decorated with pineapple slices and cherries. She knew all of her children and grandchildren's favorite dishes and baked goods and always had those items prepared for the family gatherings. Another favorite of all the grandchildren were her strawberries which she covered with fresh cream and sugar. She also loved flowers and had beautiful flowers of many colors growing everywhere. In the spring we would be blessed with hundreds of butterflies because of those flowers.

Leona was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and of the Rachel Circle. She was an inspiration to all with her unfailing faith in God. She lived by example going to church every Sunday and with her daily reading of her Bible. She would read aloud to her children while they doing their chores after dinner. She always had a smile and kind word for everyone she met. She truly believed in the saying “If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all” and shared that with everyone daily. Every day she made decisions based on what would Jesus want her do to and how would it glorify his name. She also loved singing her hymns while working.

He then attended Industry School for one year, riding horseback to get there. After that, he rode the school bus to Columbus High School where he graduated in 1950.

After graduating from high school, he joined the family in the farming and ranching business. He married Verlin Hohlt of New Wehdem on November 2, 1952, at St. James Lutheran Church in New Wehdem. They resided on the Foerster home place in their own home.

Raymond was drafted into the military and served in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 in active service. He served at Fort Carson in Colorado and later transferred to Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he was Honorably Discharged as Corporal Raymond L. Foerster. He was in the in-active Army Reserves from 1955 until 1963.

In 1955, while serving in the Army Reserve, Raymond worked for Schobel Truck and Tractor. He started as a mechanic on tractors and then automobiles. At that time he retired from Lone Star.

Shortly thereafter, Raymond received a call from Pioneer's Austin Gravel plant. He came out of retirement, after less than two months, to take over the Sand and Gravel Operation, in Austin. After two and a half years he was transferred to the Woodlands Plant as Plant Manager to oversee its safety and production problems. In July of 1997, Raymond retired at the age of 66. He went home to work his cattle ranch and to be with his wife and family.

Veteran: Early Wars,Tx Rev, 1835-36 Capt Byrd's Spy Rangers Family- Father: Johann Heinrich Andreas Fordtran, Mother: Johanne Marie Backhauss, Spouse: Almeda Brookfield References: FamilySearch, Findagrave, GenFolks

The Brenham correspondent of the Houston Post pens the following graphic obituary to Charles Fordtran, who died at Industry on November 1st-

Not many lives have so nearly spanned this wonderful century as did that of Mr. Charles Fordtran of Industry, who passed painlessly away at 4 o'clock Thursday morning, lacking but six months of having rounded out 100 years of existence. Mr. Fordtran was born in Minden, on the Weser river in Prussia, on May 7 1801. In 1830 he emigrated to New York and remained in Gotham about a year. Not finding that city a satisfactory place for investments and having some money that he was anxious to spend to advantage in the new world, he started to Missouri. On the way Mr. Fordtran fell in with what must have been the pioneer ""land boomer"" of Texas, who described the new Eldorado just opened to civilization by the genius of Stephan F. Austin. As a result of this accidental meeting Mr. Fordtran became a Texan. Mr. Fordtran first visited San Felipe de Austin and arranged for securing the land near Industry, Austin county, which yet remains the property of his estate. After a residence of two years at Industry Mr. Fordtran became tired of frontier life and homesick for his native land. He decided to see his possessions and to this end offered his entire Texas belongings, including land, stock and household belongings, for $1,000. There were no offers and the property was left in the hands of an agent. Mr. Fordtran started on his trip back to Prussia. At San Felipe he put up at the celebrated Whitesides Inn, and while there met Henry Austin, a brother of Stephen F. Austin. They spent the night in the same room and agreed on being traveling companions for a considerable distance. Next morning they began their journey to the coast and at Bolivar Mr. Fordtran became a guest of the Austin household. It was there he met Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Townsend, who were starting on a journey to Natchez, Miss. He because a member of the party and remained at Natchez several months, long enough to recover from his homesickness and for the determination to be made to return to his Texas home. He retuned to Industry six months from the date of his departure and has continuously resided there since that time. It was there he met and married Miss Almeda Brookfield, who journeyed with him through life for more than fifty years, and by whose side his remains were laid in the family lot in Prairie Lea cemetery, this city. The children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Mr. Fordtran number seventy-three, his surviving sons and daughters being Mr. Charles Fordtran, jr., of Waco; Mr. R. L. Fordtran of Industry; Mrs. C. G. McGreggor and Mrs. J. B. Baker of Waco; Mrs. G. H. Mensing and Mrs. Annie Hill of Galveston, and Mrs. M. A. Healy of this city.

On a number of occasions the numerous relatives assembled to celebrate each of Mr. Fordtran's recurring anniversaries, and a reunion of the entire kith and kin had been planned for May 7, 1901, when Grandpa Fordtran would be 100 years old. It was a very dear wish of Mr. Fordtran to pass the century mark on earth. This wish and the desire ot pass away painlessly constituted the only solicitude manifested by this venerable man concerning the hereafter.

It is wonderful to contemplate the occurrences of his long and useful life. He watched with keep interest the marvelous growth of these United States from infancy to be one of the leading nations of the world. He saw primeval forests cleared to give place to prosperous agricultural districts and populous towns and cities. The introduction of many of the conveniences of life, such as matches, gins, sewing machines, etc., compassed his recollection. He witnessed the rapid development of steam as a motive power and later the astounding achievement of electrical appliances. Up to the very day of his death Mr. Fordtran's physical vigor and mental equilibrium were remarkable, and while the vicissitudes of a century of life had bent his frame and dimmed his eyes and furrowed his cheeks, they had in no wise soured him. On the contrary he was always bright and cheerful, and delighted in giving an occasional reminiscence from the great storehouse of his memory concerning early Texas. On his last visit to Brenham he told of an incident that came near cutting short his existence some seventy years. Mr. Fordtran had made a contract with a man named Samuel Williams to bring some 800 families to the new colony. He went to New Orleans and after a sojourn of some weeks in the Crescent city induced a number of families to come to Texas. It so happened that another agent was doing New Orleans for colonists for Brazil. The Brazilian agent told the prospective immigrants, who were lately arrived from the old country, that Mr. Fordtran would bring then to Texas and sell them as slaves. The immigrants arranged a meeting with Mr. Fordtran ostensibly to come to final terms, but in reality to kill him and sink his body in the Mississippi river. Two women who discovered the plot informed Mr. Fordtran of it in time to prevent his keeping what would have been a fatal appointment.

Forse, Trudie Mae (McDaniel) (9 Oct 1931 - 18 Feb 2013)

Family- Father: Martin Ross McDaniel, Mother: Edna Temple, Spouse: Hubert Earl Forse Cemetery: San Felipe de Austin Cemetery References: Findagrave, GenFolks

Our mother, Trudie Mae Forse, age 81, was born to Martin Ross and Edna McDaniel October 9, 1931 in Hemphill, Texas. She grew up in a large family of siblings and step-siblings. She was married to our father, Hubert Forse, for 56 years before he went to be with our Lord in May of 2010.

She is survived by her children, Floyd Forse and his wife, Charlene, of Sealy, Walter Forse of Porter, Carolyn Furber and her husband, Steve, of Sealy, Arlene Mask and her husband, Ken, of Katy; by her grandchildren, Jonathan Forse and his wife, Vanessa, Margaret (Furber) Cecil and her husband, Ryan, Steven Furber, Jr., Christopher Forse, Justin Forse, Matthew Forse, Cassandra Mask, and Katie Mask; and by her great-grandchild, Claire Elise Cecil.

Mom loved it when we read from the Bible. She was like the children whom Jesus talked about. She loved to pray and loved the Lord. We thank God that she now rests in peace in Him. There is no greater comfort for us than this Truth. Mom hugged everyone. Her favorites, of course, were little children but anyone she just met would get a hug, too. There was no escaping it. She cared about people and expressed it through her hugs.

Mom was a sweet and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was fun to talk to and easy to please. She raised her children well, never gossiped around them, and taught them to respect others. We loved birthdays, Christmases, Mother's Day, and other events because she was always so "tickled pink" and thankful for her gifts. We were truly blessed to have her as our mom. Mom was blessed in that she had eight grandchildren born over several years. She loved the company of teenage grandchildren who played with their baby cousins. Christmases were especially fun with so many grandchildren of varying ages visiting and unwrapping presents. She was blessed with one great-grandchild, Claire Elise, who was born on December 23, 2011. Mom was able to spend her last Christmas watching Claire, on tiptoe, peeking out of great-aunt Charlene's window to marvel at her kitties. S

he loved gardening both vegetables and flowers and had a soft spot for animals. In the last years of her life, her son, Floyd, built her a little garden so that she would not have to bend over to tend it. She named the little, wild kittens who were born under her home and delighted in watching them play with one another. She loved bright and colorful flowers and enjoyed driving with Daddy and, when he passed, with her children to see the bluebonnets in bloom. She enjoyed going to Somerville with Dad to gaze at the lake, take walks, and enjoy the simple beauty and quiet of it all. Mom was a fiercely independent woman who insisted on living on her own. She did not want to leave the home she had known for over 30 years. No matter how much the children coaxed and begged her to come live with them, she was insistent that she could manage. She loved the quiet and enjoyed the chair-side window that allowed her to peer out onto her property and beyond. We surrounded her with our love, prayed for her, worried about her, and are grateful to God that she was able to stay in her home to the end.

We love Mom and miss her dearly. No words can truly explain the grief that children feel when their mother passes. She was the one who carried us for nine months, who fed us, nurtured us, worried about us no matter how old we were, and, loved us to the end, and even now. There was no one like her, nor will there ever be. She was our mother and we will never forget or stop loving this kind, sweet lady we call Mom.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 21, 2013, from 6-00 PM until 8-00 PM at Knesek Bros Fourth Street Chapel, 768 Fourth St., Sealy, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10-00 AM on Friday, February 22, 2013, at Knesek Bros Fourth Street Chapel.

Interment will be in San Felipe Cemetery.

Veteran: Vietnam Family- Father: John Maler, Mother: Marie Surovik, Spouse: Herbert Allen Frank Cemetery: Sealy Cemetery References: Findagrave, GenFolks

Gladys Jane Frank passed away at age 84 on the afternoon of September 20, 2022 in Katy, TX. Lovingly known to her family as Annie from the time of her first grandchild who was unable to say, Granny.

She was born in Sealy in 1938 and lived most of her life on the same street that bears her family's name - Maler. Over the years, her family stayed near to her building homes right next door. As matriarch of the family, she served as the neighborhood watch over what lovingly became known as the Frank Compound.

Gladys graduated from Sealy High School in 1956 and on July 1, 1956, she married the love of her life, Herbert Frank. Over the years, their family grew to include a daughter, Kathy, and three rambunctious sons, Tony, Mark, and Timmy. In their later years, she and Herbert took many adventurous trips across the world from Israel to Alaska to the Czech Republic.

If you didn't know her by family relation, you likely knew her through her participation in one of her many clubs or organizations. Gladys was a committed and faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Wallis, Home Extension of Austin County, Sandbagger softball, Ceramics, and the Austin County Fair. It was because of her humble servant's heart that she loved people, loved to be involved, and serve the community she called home for so many years.

Her spiritual gift was hospitality, and she shared her gift well. You often found her gathering people together through family reunions, card games, Easter fish fry-s, and Christmas stew get-togethers. If you attended, you were often sternly warned, "If you don't sign the book; you don't eat!" It was very important to Gladys that she knew who attended and that they had a good time.

Another way she loved people was through their stomachs. She loved watching cooking shows and her kitchen was full of recipe books. If you had a favorite dish or dessert, Gladys always took the time to make it for you. Her love was warm and inviting and it always tasted good!

Her family teased her tirelessly for keeping food in her freezer for years past the expiration date, cheating at cards or dominoes, and not being able to point straight because of her crooked fingers. She always bore this playful teasing with a smile because of her great sense of humor.

The time Gladys had on this earth was well spent. She could always be counted on to show up when duty called or if an opportunity to help someone presented itself. She spent time putting others before herself and she loved giving her time to people and being present for those she loved. She ran her race and she ran it well.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie Maler; husband, Herbert Frank (Poppie); son, Tony Frank; son-in-law, Tommy Smith; brother-in-law, Charles Quinton; and nephew, James Quinton.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Smith; daughter-in-love, Wendy Frank; son, Mark Frank, and son and spouse, Tim and Gayle Frank. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Lauren and her spouse, Lean, Joseph and Una, and Johnathon. Her great-grandchildren are Ethan Ryder, Ethan Lee, Sarah, and Bumpy. (Baby Potgieter due March 2023.)

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, September 25, 2022, from 5-00 PM until 7-00 PM at Knesek Family Funeral Chapel, 768 4th Street, Sealy, Texas 77474. A funeral service will be held at 10-00 AM on Monday, September 26, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Church of Wallis, 218 Rogers Street, Wallis, Texas 77485. Burial will be in Sealy Cemetery. Pallbearers are Allen Milberger, Darren Quinton, David Sell, James Sell, Jeffrey Frank, Johnathon Frank, Joseph Tesar, Lean Potgieter and Honorary Pallbearer, Lauren Potgieter.
