Veteran: CWCSA, CAPT, Co A 5th Fld Arty Family- Father: Carl Conrad Welhausen, Mother: Maria Elisabeth Fricke, Spouse: Elizabeth “Eliza” Amsler Cemetery: Shiner (TX) Cem References: Findagrave, GenFolks
WELHAUSEN, CHARLES (1835–1916). Charles Welhausen, businessman, banker, rancher, and Confederate officer, was born in Hanover, Germany, on September 2, 1835. He was the son of Carl Conrad Welhausen. Welhausen immigrated with his family to Texas in 1843 and settled at Cat Springs, Austin County. In 1856 Welhausen moved to High Hill, Fayette County, and established a saddle shop.
He volunteered for service in the Confederate Army in October 1861 and enlisted as second lieutenant in the Fifth Texas Field Artillery, also known as Creuzbauer's Battery, a company consisting primarily of German immigrants of Fayette County. This unit was assigned to garrison duty in the Rio Grande valley through 1863. In the autumn of 1863 Welhausen returned to Central Texas as the company was ordered to refit with heavier guns. In April 1864 Welhausen and the Fifth Field Artillery were sent to the Texas Gulf Coast near Louisiana to assist Confederate efforts to counter Union attacks at Calcasieu Pass. On May 6, Welhausen participated in attacks on Union troops who were collecting livestock at Calcasieu Pass. This action culminated in the capture of Union gunboats Granite City and Wave. Shortly after the battle of Calcasieu Pass, Welhausen's brother-in-law, battery commander Edmund Creuzbauer, resigned and returned home. Welhausen was promoted to captain and assumed command of the Fifth Field Artillery. He commanded the Fifth Field Artillery until it was disbanded at Houston on May 22, 1865.
Following the war, Welhausen returned to Fayette County and resumed his business. On January 1, 1867, he married Eliza Amsler, daughter of a prominent family, in Montgomery County, Texas. He soon became a prominent citizen in both ranching and banking in Fayette and Lavaca counties. In 1884 Welhausen purchased a homestead in Lavaca County from Henry B. Shiner and lived there until he moved with his family into the town of Shiner in 1895. He established the Captain Charles Welhausen Bank in 1891, and on November 19, 1900, this institution received a federal charter and was renamed the First National Bank of Shiner. In 1888 he was elected state legislator. Welhausen died in Shiner on November 3, 1916, and was buried at City Cemetery, Shiner, Lavaca County, Texas.

The legend of Donald Pfarr Wible, age 77, passed away peacefully on September 5, this year of our Lord 2022, at his fishing retreat in Sargent, Texas. He was surrounded by his family and the laughter of his grandchildren and could not have asked for a better last day on God's divine creation.
Don, or Bud, was born ahead of his time. He loved Westerns as a young man, raised a wild animal as a pet, wrestled and pitched baseball in his youth, and spent every free moment outdoors. His adventurous and patriotic spirit led him to leave Culver Stockton College (Missouri) in his junior year and enlist in the United States Marine Corps to join the fight against the spread of Communism in Vietnam where he faithfully served two tours of duty honorably with the 1st Marine Division as a mechanic entrenched with the "How 6s" Amphibious unit.
After service, Don followed his father's career path as a salesman. A natural with the gift of gab, he logged countless miles on the highways and backroads across America. He semi-retired in 2000, settling with his wife in her maternal family homestead in Cat Spring, Texas. His final workmanship was a self-published book entitled Little Buddy Goes to Scout Camp, in which he describes what life was like for a young man coming of age in America during the 1950s.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Virginia Wible of Pennsylvania; his first wife and mother of his two sons, Janet Dale Coe of Tennessee; and his beloved second wife, Ellen Reichardt Wible of Sealy, Texas.
He is survived by his two sons, Chadwick Wible in Cat Spring, Texas, and Bradford Wible and his wife, Stefanie Wible, and their children Wrenlee, Logan, and Levi in Bellville, Texas; his brother, Jeff Wible and his wife, Leigh Wible, in Towson, Maryland, and their two children, Dulaney Farkas and her husband, Ben Farkas, and their children Holden, Rowley, and Berkeley in Cockeysville, Maryland, and Corie Wible in Baltimore, Maryland; and his sister, Patricia Gregg and her husband, Peter Gregg, in Rancho Mission Viejo, California, and their two children, Laurie McClure and her husband, Justin McClure, and their two children, Grace and Owen in Irvine, California, and Robert Gregg in San Diego, California.
Per his wishes, Don's body was burned to ash, the remains of which shall be released into the air over the land he loved while toasting a cold beer in his honor. A Celebration of Life event will commence at 2 p.m. by the ponds on the Wible Ranch, formerly known as the Henkel Ranch, at 15324 FM 1094, Cat Spring, Texas 78933 on Saturday, October 8th, 2022, for all those who knew him or knew of him as his character was larger than life. Anne, "Annie" Marie Wingo
May 21, 1962-August 25, 2022
If you were fortunate enough to have known her, you know that Annie Wingo was one of the most loving, giving, loyal, easy going, and welcoming people you could ever hope to encounter. Her joyful spirit impacted everyone she met. She was a wonderful teacher, a great sister and daughter, devoted wife, an amazing mother, an incredible grandmother- "Honey" to her grandchildren, and a dear friend. After her 9-month battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully at home with her husband, children, and best friend-Julie Laine, by her side.
Annie got involved in Young Life as a high schooler in Houston TX & there began her walk with Jesus. The rest of her life was a testament to her desire to please the Lord in everything she did. She met the love of her life, Kevin Wingo and they committed their lives to each other on December 17th, 1988. They moved to Bellville, TX in 1994, and fell in love with the community. Her life was spent in service of others. People were her passion and she showed this through volunteering, educating, feeding (cooking was her love language!), hosting, and a myriad of other ways that those who knew her will always remember. She loved the many years that she spent serving the community through the Austin County Colt Project, the Austin County Youth Rodeo Association, and Bellville Young Life. Annie & Kevin have always loved opening up their home, ranch and dinner table, embracing others in any way they could, especially their Canadian "daughter" Josie.
Music was another lifelong love of Annie's, from singing the National Anthem at her HS graduation, to being a member of the esteemed Century Singers at Texas A & M (class of '84), to teaching children's choir & leading worship at her church. She could turn any situation into a song.
One of the greatest joys of Annie's life was spending time with her grandchildren. She loved sharing time on the ranch--tending her garden, chickens, dogs, horses & cattle with her husband, children, and grandchildren by her side.
Annie Wingo is survived by her husband, Kevin Wingo; her children- Will Wingo and his wife, Ashleigh; Katie Heidemann and her husband Tanner; and Claire Wingo; as well as her 3 beloved grandchildren-Beckett Heidemann, Fletcher Wingo & Rainey Wingo.
She is also survived by her mother, Helen Gabig; and her 4 siblings, Mary Ann Plate, John "Jack" Gabig, Loretta "Retta" Yarbrough, and Michael Gabig, together with their spouses and children.
There will be a memorial worship service held at Bellville United Methodist Church on September 3rd at 11am. In leu of flowers, donations to help cover medical expenses are being accepted at 1st National Bank of Bellville (gift account in Anne Wingo's name) or on her Go Fund Me page for "Annie's Run Against Cancer."

Wolter, Maureen Renée (Borak) (20 Sep 1955 - 15 Feb 2024)
Family- Father: Simon Borak, Mother: Dorothy Hanzelka, Spouse: Kurt Wolter, Children: Derrick Wolter, Gretta Wolter Cemetery: Guardian Angel Cemetery References: GenFolks
Maureen Renée Borak Wolter, 68, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Katy, TX on Thursday, February 15, 2024.
She was born on September 20, 1955, in El Paso, TX to Simon and Dorothy (Hanzelka) Borak. She is survived by her son, Derrick Wolter, and his wife, Margaret, of Georgetown; daughter, Gretta Wolter, and her husband, Peter Contreras, of Houston; and grandchildren, Adele and Pearl Wolter and Simon and Margo Contreras. Also survived by her mother, Dorothy Borak, of Columbus; sister, Susan Swanson, and her husband, Delbur, of El Campo; sister, Barbara Borak, of Spring; and siblings-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Simon Borak, and husband of 46 years, Kurt Wolter.
Maureen grew up in Rosenberg, TX, and was active in Girl Scouts as a child. She attended Holy Rosary Catholic School through 8th grade, then transitioned to Lamar Consolidated High School. In 1973, she graduated from Lamar Consolidated and began attending Wharton County Junior College, where she met Kurt. The two married and lived in Houston for a short time as they expanded their family with the arrival of their son, Derrick. Soon enough, they longed for a simpler life outside of the city and relocated to El Campo, eventually growing their family again with their daughter, Gretta. Maureen opted to stay at home with her kids until Gretta was in first grade, upon which she took a job at a local bank, and she continued to work in banking and accounting roles throughout her decades-long career. Maureen and Kurt loved visiting their families on weekends, often taking Derrick and Gretta to see their grandparents or spending time at the Borak family ranch in Columbus. In the late 1980s, Maureen and Kurt moved their family across the state to Dumas, TX so that Kurt could begin a position with the United States Department of Agriculture. Less than two years later, Kurt earned a promotion within the USDA that relocated the family to Vermont, where they spent three years. Maureen always looked back on that time fondly and enjoyed reminiscing about the beautiful landscape and quirky culture. The mid-1990s brought the opportunity for Kurt to transfer his family back to the Houston area, and Maureen enjoyed being closer to family, lifelong friends, and the beach. One of her favorite pastimes was riding shotgun to Matagorda Beach with Kurt in his truck while listening to classic rock music. Once she and Kurt retired, they became very active in many ministries at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Katy. She especially enjoyed volunteering with Kurt in the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which gave her the opportunity to practice her Spanish.
Maureen loved working with her hands. Some of her favorite hobbies were sewing clothes and home décor, gardening, and refinishing antique furniture. She also enjoyed traveling and cherished the two-week-long road trip she took with Kurt from Katy to one of her favorite places, Huntington Beach, CA, to watch locals play beach volleyball and surf. In her final years, she especially delighted in spending time with her cherished grandchildren, who describe her as caring and loving.
Maureen's sudden departure has left a void in our hearts, but we find solace in the memories we shared, the legacy she leaves behind, and knowing she is reunited in Heaven with the love of her life, Kurt. She will be remembered as a woman of faith, a loving mother and grandmother, and a beacon of light in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may the memories of her love and kindness bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
Pallbearers are Peter Contreras, Chase Swanson, Chad Faas, Clay Swanson, Glen Borak, and Darrell Borak.

Note from Bonnie Schermer-
This is the individual who, during air force training, fell out of his double open cockpit plane during air turbulence. He had unbuckled his seat belt to retrieve his earphones from the floor when the trainer threw the plane into a dive to ""teach him a lesson."" Vic flew up into the air, being tossed into a somersault with a half twist. He then felt the tail of the plane under him, and rode it until it landed, keeping his feet elevated so as not to tangle in the exterior rudder controls. His story appeared in Ripley's Believe It Or Not, although the part played by his instructor was edited out.
Woods, Allan Oliver (28 Sep 1935 - 17 Jan 2022)

Veteran: Korea,Other/Unknown,Vietnam, CAPT, USAF, 1953-91 Family- Father: Albert Oliver Woods, Mother: Maude Caswell, Spouse: Margaret Pope Cemetery: Houston National Cemetery References: Findagrave, GenFolks
Allan Oliver Woods, 86, of Bellville, Texas, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022, in Cypress, Texas. Allan was born September 28, 1935 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Albert Oliver and Maude (Caswell) Woods. Allan grew up and attended schools in the Flint area. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country until he was honorably discharged in July 1965.
During his deployment to England, Allan met and married the love of his life, Margaret Pope. They were united in marriage in Ipswich, England on April 12, 1955. They soon made their home in Houston where Allan worked as an engineer for Dresser, Hydril, and KVM Technologies. During this time, he re-enlisted in the Air National Guard to complete his 20 years of service and retire as a Senior master Sergeant (E-8).
Although Allan was a strict military man, he had such a soft spot for all his little kitty cats and making sure they all had the love and care they needed. He loved being a private pilot and flying every chance he got. That is how he found Bellville. He was flying around one day and saw the little airport and decided to land and look around the town. He fell in love with the small town and soon he and mom bought their Bellville place. Dad spent the weekends for 10 years building their dream home and eventually made Bellville their home in 1997. He also loved restoring old cars (especially 59 Chevys). Tinkering with electronics was another of his favorite hobbies.
Allan was a very proud military man. He established the Lone Star Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol which would meet at The Grawunder Airport every week. The cadets learned all about the Air Force and prepared them for enlistment. Several cadets did their solo fights and got their private pilot's license.
He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Margaret Woods of Bellville; daughters, Sandra Kramer and her husband, Keith, of Houston, Maria Cochran and her husband, Ross, of Liberty Hill, and Susan Kelley and her husband, MED, of Windham, ME, Tina Woods of Bellville; granddaughter, Samantha Hinnant, Jennifer Cochran, Laura Cochran, and Autumn Cochran; great-grandsons, Michael Cochran, Christopher Cochran, Arthur Kramer, Stephen Kelley, Michael Kelley, and Brogan Kelley; four great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
We would like to give a special thanks to David Story for all his unwavering love and support he has shown for our family.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Maude Woods, and two sisters, Fran Sauer and Carol Burse.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, from 9-00 AM - 11-00 AM at Schmidt Funeral Home, 12029 Hwy. 36 South, Bellville, Texas, followed by a funeral service at 11-00 AM. Graveside service with military honors will be held at Houston National Cemetery on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 10-45 AM.

Wozniak, Camilla "Camie" (Bouchard) (7 Jun 1937 - 17 Sep 2024)
Family- Father: Alcide Bouchard, Mother: Maria Leveque, Spouse: Ike Wozniak References: GenFolks
Camilla “Camie” Wozniak was born in North Caribou, Maine on June 7, 1937, to Alcide and Maria (Leveque) Bouchard. Camie’s mother passed away when she was 8 years old. She and her 2 sisters were sent to a Catholic orphanage and raised by Canadian French Nuns until the age of 14. At that time, Camie’s father moved the family to Newburgh, New York. She attended high school at Newburgh Free Academy. French was Camie’s first language, with English as her secondary, making public school a challenge for her. During her senior year, Camie attended school in the morning and worked at various placement jobs in retail. Her final placement was a telephone switchboard operator, a job she loved and worked at until she married. Camie graduated in 1955.
In April of 1953, Camie met the love of her life, Ike Wozniak, who was in the Air Force stationed at Stewart AFB, Newburgh, NY. Ike and some friends stopped one day to visit Camie’s sister, Jeanne. When their eyes met on the driveway of 28 North Plank Road, it was love at first sight for Ike and Camie. Dating began shortly thereafter and continued until Ike was transferred to Thule, Greenland in October of 1954. They wrote letters to each other every day during his one year tour.
When he returned in October of 1955, he had a ring and she had purchased a wedding dress, even though marriage had not previously been mentioned! Ike proposed and they spent the next several weeks planning their wedding that took place on November 6, 1955. Their honeymoon was spent traveling to Brenham, Texas to meet Ike’s family. Her new mother-in-law, whom she loved, gave her a wedding shower. Camie bonded closely with Ike’s sisters, whom she loved as well.
Their first assignment as a married couple was El Paso, followed by Bryan and San Antonio, Texas. The military would take them to Okinawa, California, Taiwan, North Dakota, and finally settling in San Antonio, Texas.
Camie was a career stay-at-home mom. She was fiercely devoted to her children, and later her grandchildren. Her role as wife, Mom, and Granny were clearly, always most important to her. She was always encouraging and so proud of her husband, each child, and grandchild.
After Ike retired from the AF, Camie began working outside the home at the Base Exchange on Lackland Air Force Base. After retiring from the BX, she went to work at Methodist Hospital as a patient escort for a few years, then volunteered for the same position as a Blue Bird.
When Camie was 48 years old, she decided she and Ike, aged 50, should take dance lessons. A nervous wreck, Ike reluctantly went to the first lesson with her. At the end of the night, they signed up for ALL lessons. She turned Ike’s two-left feet into “Fred Astaire” and enjoyed another 30 years of beautiful dancing together.
After 32 years in San Antonio, they moved to Sealy, Texas in 2003 and built a house on the Fey Farm. Camie and Ike became very involved with the Immaculate Conception Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America (CDA) and she and Ike were ushers for many years. Camie was very supportive of the Knights of Columbus and assisted in many functions, including Bingo Nights. They made many friends over the years in Sealy. For several years, there were many card games, outings, and trips with special friends, Joannah and Bobby Hagen and Frances and Charles Hinze.
Camie and Ike spent much of their retired years traveling in their custom van all over the United States. They took numerous cruises with friends and family. Many trips were taken to New York and Maine to visit family and lifelong friends.
Camie was called home to the Lord peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 17, 2024, at her home in Sealy, Texas. She is survived by her loving husband, Ike, of almost 69 years, daughter, Maria Martini, daughter-in-law, Pam Wozniak, daughter, Chiqui Fey and her husband, Mike. Her grandchildren, Angela and (James) Sewell, Raymond Tuccelli, Stacey and (Jason) Haynes, Stefanie and (Riley) Einfalt, Shannon and (Kurtis) Quillin, and Katie Fey. Great grandchildren, Lilliana Sewell, Lark and Everly Einfalt, and Camilla Kay Quillin (arrival December 2024). Brother and sister-in-laws: Mary and Emil Richter, Emily and Gene Pawlak, Mike and Linda Wozniak, and Rosalie Wozniak; numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her sons, infant David Louis and Michael John Wozniak; her parents; all of her siblings: Norman Bouchard, Robert Bouchard, Claude Bouchard, George Bouchard, Jeanne Hill, Theresa (Fifi) Bouchard, and Alcide Bouchard, Jr.; Brother and sister-in-laws: Msgr.
