Janette Grace Ognoskie passed away on Nov. 13, 2014.

She was born on May 28, 1934 in Bellville Texas.

Her parents were Victor and Grace Gutowsky.She was married to Roy Ognoskie.

They had three children, daughters- Lynda Ognoskie (Odom) Kathy Ann Stalcup and husband Floyd.One son Roy Roger Ognoskie.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, husband, grandchild Tyler Reyes and brother James Gutowsky.

Survived by daughters Lynda of New Caney, Kathy and Floyd of Murphy, N.C., son Roy of Kingwood, grandchildren- Keaton, Elliot and Sam Ognoskie, Rebecca and Robert Roy Roger Odom. Grandchildren Tammy Reyes, Corey, Luke and Lisa Marie Stalcup. Great grandchildren Jadyn and Tylar Odom ,and Luken Canup.

Clyde M. Olds, 77, of Sealy, Texas passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 in Sealy, Texas. Clyde was born on March 16, 1935 to Clyde M. Olds, Sr., and Linnie (Mars) Olds in Union Town, Alabama. He served in the US Army and was retired as a truck driver for Wal-Mart Distribution Center. Clyde is survived by his wife Cappy Olds of Sealy, Texas. Daughter Jean Cosse' and husband Kerry of Bellchase, Louisiana. Sisters Margaret Wells and husband Harold of Selma, Alabama, Sylvia Carter and husband David of Sautee, Georgia, and Gwen Cook and husband Roy of Durango, Colorado. Brother Malcolm Olds and wife Cindy of Houma, Louisiana. Step-sons Tommy Burros and wife Patty of La Place, Lousiana, and Tony Burros and wife Julie of Port Sulphur, Louisiana. Six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter Rena St. Pe' and sisters Josephine Olds and Jean Olds, and brother Charles Olds.

Funeral services for Kathleen Martgaret Oliver, 80, of Sealy/Katy were held on May 22 from the Houston National Cemetery in Houston. Interment followed in the Houston National Cemetery.

Kathleen was born in Ballina, Ireland to parents, James and Ann Marie (Munnelly) Murphy. She was raised in Ireland and attended school in Ireland.

On May 13, 1960 the former Miss Kathleen Murphy was joined in marriage to Mr. William Oliver with a ceremony held in New York.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Frydek and St. Edith Stein Catholic Church in Katy, where she was involved with the Red Hat Society and attained the rank of Purple Hat. Kathleen was an avid gardener with a green thumb. She would crotchet blankets, booties and clothing for preemie babies.

Kathleen Oliver passed away May 18 in Houston. She is survived by her daughters, Rita Kiernan and husband Thomas of Cork, Ireland, and Maureen Barros of England; son, William B. Joseph Oliver and wife Penny of Sealy; sister, Philomena O'Brien of Leeds, England; brothers, Vincent Murphy of Leeds, England, James Murphy of Ireland and Mattie Murphy of Ireland; grandchildren, Thomas, Stephanie, Debbie and Christine Kiernan, David, Justine, and Leonor Barros, and Lauren Martinez; great grandchildren, Isabelle and Jordan Bauer, and Orhdan Kiernan; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ann Marie Murphy; husband, William Oliver; brothers, Sean Murphy and Michael Murphy; and sister, Ann Marie Murphy. Monday, October 28th, Gary passed suddenly at his home in Sealy.

He is survived by his aunt, Juanita Carlson of Indiana, several cousins, and many, many friends he's gained over the years.

Gary was born in Corpus Christi, Texas June 11, 1948 to Verlin and Norma (Trammell) Olson and attended high school at W.B. Ray High School, graduating in 1966. He then attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi. In 1967, Gary enlisted into the Army, serving in Vietnam. While serving, he received several distinctions, including Good Conduct Medal, Army Accommodation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Gary was honorably discharged in September of 1973 at the rank of Sargent. Gary was a member of the American Legion Post #442 and VFW Post 9182.

After his military career, Gary worked at a variety of companies in the Houston area. He retired from BAE Systems. Gary developed a second family in his journeys with the Houston Audubon, Kleb Woods Nature Preserve, Nature Discovery Center, Boling Bunny Farm, Houston Budgerigar Society, the Ornithological Group, The American Rabbit Breeders Association and more. "Uncle Gary" enjoyed teaching new enthusiasts about identifying birds in the field, tips on raising award-winning rabbits, and quick quips followed by a shared laugh. He had a passion for Texas and military history and traveled the United States visiting historic sites and loved to share his journeys with others. He was known for packing up and going at the drop of a hat to visit a historic site or nature area for a rare bird.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2019, at 1:30 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas, where his parents are buried.

Sealy, Texas - Graveside services for Verlin Reuben Olson, 86, of Sealy, Texas, (formerly of Yankton, South Dakota), were held Monday, April 17, 2006 from Houston Veterans National Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Interment was at Houston Veterans National Cemetery in Houston, TX where his wife Norma was buried.

Born on a farm in Yankton County, South Dakota, Verlin was the son of Albin and Louise (Holtz) Olson. He went to the Country School called West Prairie for his grade schooling, then to the Irene High School in Irene, South Dakota. In 1941 he had to sign up for the draft, and was 1A, and then Pearl Harbor happened, so he enlisted for 6 years in the U.S. Navy. He was sent to Corpus Christi, TX U.S. Naval Air station and put in Squadron 15 for duty. He then was transferred to Kingsville, TX Naval Air Station. Then he was transferred to Sea Duty on the U.S. Cumberland Sound AV-17 to the South Pacific. He then was transferred to U.S. Naval Patrol Bombing and Rescue Squadron, took part in the taking of Saipan, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, then to Shanghai, China, Hong Kong, China and then back to the States for some Stateside duty. He was Honorably Discharged with the Rank of (ACMMFE) Aviation Chief Machinist Mate Flight Engineer. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, The Campaign Ribbons of World War Two Victory Medal. After his discharge, he went to work for the Corpus Christi, TX, U.S. Post Office and he retired from the U.S. Post Office. Mr. Olson married the former Norma Olean Trammell with ceremony held in Corpus Christi on July 5, 1947. Verlin and Norma had 40 loving years together until she died March 4, 1987 from Cancer.

He is a member of the Sealy, TX, American Legion Post 442, A member of the (NALC) National Association of Letter Carriers, and CIO Union Branch 1259, Corpus Christi, TX.

Mr. Olson died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, in Sealy, Texas.

Preceded in death by his father and mother Albin and Louise Olson, his wife, Norma Olson, his brothers, Lesley Olson of Canton, South Dakota, Howard Olson of Kansas City, KA, and his sister Ione Ponx of St. Paul, Minnesota.

Survived by his son Gary W. Olson of Sealy, TX, his sister Juanita Carlson of Box Elder, South Dakota, his brother Glen Olson, Yankton, South Dakota, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Margaret Ongman, 94, of Sealy, Texas were held Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at 11 a.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Sealy, Texas with Rev. John Tyler officiating. Interment was at the Sealy Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving were Richard Flowers, Carl Johnson, Dewayne Johnson and John Harvey.

Born in Cook County Chicago, Illinois, Margaret was the daughter of Johnand Ursula (Mossburger) Nelson. She was raised in Chicago, and attended Chicago schools.

The former Margaret Nelson married Elmer Howard Theede in Chicago and after his death, she married Harry Ongman. She was a lifelong homemaker who loved gardening and sewing.

Margaret Ongman died Saturday, July 5, 2003 in Bellville, Texas. Her survivors were her daughter Joy Johnson of Sealy, sister Madeline Bell of Anacortes, Washington, grandchildren Debbie Flowers, Margie Johnson, Carl Johnson and Dewayne Johnson.

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Ursula Nelson, husband Elmer Howard Theede, husband Harry Ongman, sister Louise Le Veille, Joan DeMayo and brothers Edmund and Henry Nelson.

Boyce Dawson Orange Sr. was born on Sept. 9, 1930 to James Albert Orange and Davie Alco Orange. He passed from this life on Oct. 4, 2018. He was raised in the Hempstead area.

After a brief service in the Marines, Boyce worked in San Antonio as a police officer. There he met his future wife Florence Mae McElwee. They were married on December 22, 1950. To this union was born two children, Bonny Mae and Boyce D. Jr. They were married for 54 years until her death in 2005.

Boyce Sr. is preceded in death by his parents, James and Davie Orange, his wife, Florence, and his daughter, Bonny Mae Hilmers.

He is survived by his son, Boyce D. Orange, Jr. and his wife, Sheryl Kay Orange; four grandchildren, Cory Branstetter, Clint Branstetter and wife, Yvonne, Robert Orange, and Ashley Orange. He also is survived by seven great-grandchildren.

Boyce enjoyed visiting friends and family, telling stories about his life. He attended the Hidden Valley Church of Christ in Houston. Boyce worked as an electrician trainer and maintenance for Continental Can Company for over forty years. He also worked as a reserve officer in Deer Park.

Boyce and his wife Florence enjoyed going to flea markets on weekends after his retirement. Boyce also enjoyed watching westerns, especially John Wayne movies!

The family extends special thanks to Rebecca and the Stonebridge family for the love and kindness shown Boyce during the time he lived at Stonebridge. Special thanks to Oscar Johnson who went the extra mile loving him.

Joshua Paul Orellana passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at the age of 31.

Joshua enjoyed being with his children, watching movies, and listening to country music. He had a love for all types of music. He graduated from Sealy High School in 2006. Joshua then went on to serve our country. He was in the Army for six years and loved his red, white, and blue. He was a true "American soldier".

Joshua is survived by his children, Naelynn Cano Orellana, 9 years old, and Anthony P. Orellana, 8 years old; his parents, Paul and Iris Orellana; brother, Kenny Orellana; sister, Meghann Orellana Slayden; brother-in-law, Mathew Slayden; maternal grandmother, Eladia "Sara" Mojica Hernandez; and an array of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Services were held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fourth Street, Sealy, Texas, on Dec. 14, 2018. Interment was at the National Veterans Cemetery, Dec. 19, at 2:30 p.m.

DELPHINE ALBINA ONDRASEK OROPESA of Melbourne, FL died at Wuesthoff Hospice House - she was born in New Tabor, the 4th child of Jan J and Frances Surovik Ondrasek. Delphine grew up in Lyons, TX with 3 brothers and 6 sisters. She was a WWII, veteran of the Women's Army Air Corp serving as an airplane mechanic, was a Girl Scout leader for many years and a former member of Bowe Gardens Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Oropesa (married 5/18/1946 in West Palm Beach, FL, surviving are sister, Evelyn Schubert of Lyons, TX; daughter, Lori (Stevan) Kelly; grandchildren, Carrie Kelly, Stevan, Jr (Kristin), Bryan (Esther) Kelly, Rhett Kelly, Hannah Kelly and great-grandchildren, Tristan and Madison Kelly, Andrew Smith, Caylee and Destiny Kelly and Rhett Kelly, II. Georgie Marie Beran Orsak, aka, "Tippi" went to be with our Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2024. She was born on October 21, 1937, to Agnes and John Beran of East Bernard, Texas. She leaves behind her loving family which includes- her sister, Mary Jane Petrosky, her six children and their spouses, Ronnie and Patricia Orsak, Benjamin Orsak, Shirley Orsak Davila, Sandra Powers and Willie Hosak, Debra and Dennis Zurek, and Bernard and Dana Orsak. Her grandchildren include Crystal and Ryan DeWoody, Ronald and Rebecca Orsak, Joey Orsak and Samantha Chaline, Charles and Ashley Orsak, Christopher Orsak and Addie Evans (soon to be Orsak), Jake Zurek, Cameron Orsak, and Carissa Orsak (soon to be Pesl) and Joseph Pesl. Her great-grandchildren include Raegan Orsak, Haley DeWoody, Yunya Tate, Kale DeWoody, Benjamin Orsak, Rylin Rivera, Kylie Orsak, Emma DeWoody, Joey Zachary Orsak, Bailey Munoz, Kyle Orsak, Xander Orsak, Zoey Orsak, Sadie Orsak, Skylar Orsak, and baby Willow Orsak (coming in May). She also has various nieces and nephews and many beloved friends. She is preceded in death by her former husband Bennie Orsak, her mother and father, Agnes and John Beran, brother Charles Beran, sister Margaret Snodgrass, brother-in-law Blanton Snodgrass, sister Edith Krenek, brother-in-law Syl Krenek and niece Deborah Snodgrass.

Georgie was born and raised in the East Bernard area. She attended Holy Cross Catholic School and then went on to the East Bernard Public school. She loved country music and dancing to the jukebox at her mother's diner. There was a song called "Tippi" and every time it played she would jump up and dance around to the music which earned her the nickname "Tippi". She married Bennie Orsak in 1956 and they had six children together. Her children were her life. She loved when her oldest son Ronnie and his family would take her and the family to Lake Somerville during the 4th of July Holiday. Riding in the boat and playing in the sun with her children and grandchildren made her day. Her second born son, Benjamin played quarterback on the Brahma foot ball team. She made the entire football team hamburgers every Friday night when she owned and operated the Brahma Dairy Mart. She really loved going with her daughters, Shirley and Debra, and her son Bernard, to Louisiana to have a good time.

She worked at Foodtown and the Hilltop Cafe in Kendleton for many years and various other places in East Bernard. She loved listening to country music especially the song "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights" by Freddie Fender. But her favorite singer was Elvis Presley who she actually got Bennie, her husband, to take her to see in person at a live concert in Louisiana. That was her fondest memory of seeing "The King" in person. Towards the end, she became a resident at Arbor Hills in Eagle Lake. She loved when her daughter Sandra would push her all over the facility to visit with friends. Every child had a different day that they would spend with her including Dennis her son-in-law who was her Thursday Bingo Buddy. God Bless and Fly High sweet Angel our "Tippi Too"!

Funeral services for Gloria Aguilar Ortiz, 68, of Sealy, were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015 at Knesek Funeral Home in Sealy.

Gloria passed away after a long, hard fought battle with stomach and pancreatic cancers on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015.

Gloria enjoyed the simple pleasures in life including cooking and spending time with family. She also enjoyed shopping, whether it be at a local gift shop, the mall, or ordering from QVC.

Gloria will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and friend.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memories brothers, Eliseo, Robert, Juan, Ruben, Jerry, Fred, and Ricky Aguilar; sisters, Mary Aguilar, Alice Villalobos, Linda Rivas, and Diane Aguilar; children, Mike Escobedo, Jackie Loera, Raphael Ortiz, Juvenal Ortiz, Rebecca Guidry, Justin Ortiz; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandchildren.

Gloria is preceded in death by parents Antonio and Rafaela Casares Aguilar, sister, Rose Mary Aguilar, and son, Gerald Escobedo.

Pallbearers include Raphael Ortiz, Juvenal Ortiz, Todd Guidry, Eric Guidry, Michael Montoya, and Jose Meza.

Funeral services for Nelda Ottmer, 92, of Sealy, formerly of Bellville, were held Sunday, Dec. 15, 2003 at 2 p.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville with the Rev. H. Eldon Akerman officiating. Interment was at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Bellville.

Pallbearers were Sterling Schiller, Bryant Schiller, Michael Friedrich, Robert Anderson, Ben Raska and David Zeplin. Honorary pallbearers were Joseph Lanning and Stacy Wittig.

Born in Bellville, Nelda was the daughter of Albert and Emma (Gise) Grawunder. She was raised in Raccoon Bend and attended Bradbury Public School.

Nelda was baptized July 26, 1913 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg.

The former Nelda Grawunder married Herbert Ottmer Nov. 22, 1934 at St. John Lutheran church in Bellville.

She was a member at St. John Lutheran Church and really enjoyed fishing.

Nelda Ottmer died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003.

Survivors are daughters Lorrene Schiller and husband Milton W. of Sealy, Viola Sebesta and husband Royce of San Felipe, Betty Friedrich and husband Leonard of Houston and Erna Love and husband George of Tomball, grandchildren and spouses Sterling Schiller and Wendy, Bryant Schiller and Melinda, Melody Anderson and Robert, Carol Sebesta, Lynn Raska and Ben, Susan Lanning and Joseph, Kathy Wittig and Stacy, Michael Friedrich and Susan, Karen Love, Nancy Love and Sharon Zeplin and David and 12 great
grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents Albert and Emma Grawunder, husband Herbert, Ottmer, brothers Alvin, Edwin, Lonnie and Leon Grawunder.

Mary Evelyn Bell Owens, 92, a longtime resident of Dallas and recently of Waxahachie went to Heaven, Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003.

She was born July 28, 1911 in Galveston to Leigh and Eva Bell Springfield.

When her mother died, she went to live with her grandmother Bell and took the Bell name. The Bell family were pioneers of Bell County and the town of Bellville bears their name.

Mary married William Alvah Rankin. He preceded her in death and she later married Paul Owens, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include son Ralph Foster Rankin of Dallas; granddaughters and their husbands, Donna and Ronald Dean Adams of Italy, Lisa and Hal Lasater of Waxahachie and Karen and Jeffrey Brock of Ennis; grandson Mike Taylor of Huntsville, great grandchildren Rachel Adams, Aaron Tamez, Sean Tamez, Joseph Tamez, Lauren Tamez, Heather Brock, Tyler Brock and Michael Taylor, Jenna Taylor and Ryan Taylor of Burdignin, France.

Funeral services were held FrDec. 12, 2003 at 10 a.m. from the
Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.
