Lemanski, Frank Michael (1948-2021)
[Family] Mother: Eleanore Lijewski/Hamlin Kloka [Cemetery] Sealy Cemetery () , FG
Frank Michael Lemanski, 73, of Sealy, Texas, passed away on July 14, 2021 at his home. He was born March 18, 1948 in Detroit Michigan.
Frank found his way to Texas one week before his 30th birthday in 1978 and went to work as a draftsman in Houston. In 1995, Frank started working for Stewart and Stevenson Services, subsequently BAE, at the Sealy plant, and remained there until he retired. Frank loved his work and the people he worked with. This showed through the many awards he achieved for his great performance as an employee and being great to work with. On May 19, 1999, Frank was given a Nice Guy award "For dedication to his work and for being a nice guy"!
Frank was a nice guy with a big heart! He never met a stranger, he loved people and he loved to talk with anyone that would listen. He could often be found at Walmart cruising the aisles, not looking for anything to buy, but looking for someone new to meet or someone he already knew to visit with. Frank was kind, caring, and giving. He had a full Santa Clause suit that he donned every year to greet the little ones at various Christmas events in Sealy. He definitely looked the part - no pillows necessary! And he had the best, "HO, HO, HO, Merry Christmas" ever! Frank was a member of the Sealy Rotary Club for many years and was appointed song master when he started writing songs for the group to sing at the start of each meeting. Once retired, Frank was looking for some way to give back to the community he so loved and came up with the idea of creating an opportunity for senior citizens to gather, play games and socialize. Hence, Sealy Playtime Recreation came into existence. Frank raised money to fund this endeavor and it was his pride and joy for many years until he was forced to close it down due to COVID.
Frank truly loved Sealy and often spoke of how blessed he felt to be part of such a great community. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his brother, Ed Hamlin and wife, Elaine; sister, Mary Lou Bergman; brother, Tony Knoblock; and brother, Lenn Piorkowski and wife, Sue; sister, Theresa Lemanski Gruzwalski; and sister, Judy Lemanski Swieezkowski; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Eleanore Lijewski Hamlin Kloka; father, Anthony Frank Kloka; sister, Sylvia Marlene Hamlin LaFave; and sister, Joni Lemanski Prebelich.
Internment in the Sealy Cemetery.

Leschper, Gladys Marie (Franke) (1937-2024)
Maiden Name: Franke [Family] Father: Bennie F. Franke, Mother: Sveedie L. Koslovsky, Spouse: Wilbert Gene Leschper [Cemetery] Sealy Cemetery () , FG
Gladys Marie (Franke) Leschper, 86, of Sealy, passed away January 17, 2024 in College Station. She was born August 10, 1937 in Industry to Bennie and Sveedie (Koslovsky) Franke. She attended schools in New Ulm and Industry before graduating from Bellville High School in 1956.
Growing up with her younger brother on a farm in New Ulm, Gladys was no stranger to hard work. They spent long hours picking cotton alongside their parents, joined many times by their cousin, Betty Joyce, whose summer visits were recalled fondly by Gladys all her life. She loved horses, especially Old Paint, whose blindness taught them to trust each other.
After graduation, Gladys and a friend moved to Houston to attend comptometer school, living with her aunt and uncle until they completed their training and found jobs. She enjoyed working as a bookkeeper at Kuhn Paint Company. One day, she saw Wilbert Leschper at an ice cream parlor. Friends introduced them later, and they were married on September 20, 1958 at Industry Brethren Church. In 1966, they moved to the Peters community where Wilbert had grown up. After several years as a stay-at-home mom, Gladys went to work with her husband at the meat market he opened in 1976. They closed The Country Market in 1999 and worked for Ranchers Meats in Bellville until retirement.
Gladys liked singing in the church choir, listening to polka and country music, dancing, and going on trips with the family for Wilbert's bowling tournaments. Her favorite activities, however, were centered around the kitchen. She loved to cook and bake and collected more recipes in her lifetime than anyone else we know. At Christmas her kitchen abounded with homemade jellies, cookies, and candies. Any time the Leschpers gathered for a meal, the most popular item on the dessert table was her cream cheese squares. And every May, she baked anywhere from 10 to 15 cakes for the cakewalk at the annual Peters Hall Mothers' Day Celebration.
Survivors include her children, Gene Leschper, Donna and Alan Lehmann; grandchildren, Michael, Faith, and Samuel Lehmann; siblings-in-law, Linda Ratjen, Kenneth and Cleba Leschper, Adolph Leschper, Marilyn Prince, Doris and Clem Krolczyk, Nelda and Tommy Tamborello; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Walter, Sr. and Mary Leschper; brother, Jesse Franke; siblings-in-law, Larry Ratjen, Lee Roy, Sr., Janie, and Maggie Leschper, Florence and Leon Frank, Walter, Jr. and Judy Leschper, Edna Leschper, Jerry Prince; nephews and nieces, Jeffery Franke, Helen Rother, Mary Rosselli, Deborah Guerrero, Steven Krolczyk; and great-nephew and niece, Christopher Mathews, Jessica Hills.

Walter attended Peters Hacienda School and then Sealy Schools. Walter was a dairy farmer and rancher his entire life. Walter and Judy also ran the Sealy Bus Station for a number of years. He was a member of the Peters Hacienda Community Hall where he served as a Bar Manager for over 40 years. Some of the best times and memories are from the place he called "The Hall". Walter enjoyed many years of league bowling at the Sealy Bowling Palace. After retiring from the dairy business, Walter enjoyed many trips to the "Hill Country" with his cousin, Herman Meloneck, and wife Chesterlene. They loved playing cards and dominos at Uncle Shorty's. He was a lifetime Aggie at heart and loved the annual excitement of the big $1 bet with Michael ("Hollywood") over the UT and A&M game. Walter had a unique and fun loving personality. He enjoyed giving quirky nicknames to many friends and family members and there was always a great story behind the name. As time went on and his beard turned to white, Walter became known as Santa to many children and acquaintances. He loved to dress the part at Christmas time. For the rest of the year, he could answer any child's question with a story of why he wasn't at the North Pole. The story he used the most was that he was here getting hay for his reindeer.

Leschper, Wilbert Gene (1931-2019)
[Veteran] Korea, PVT, US Army [Family] Father: Walter John Leschper Sr, Mother: Mary Annie Ludwig, Spouse: Gladys Marie Franke, Children: Gene Leschper and Donna Lehmann [Cemetery] Sealy Cemetery () , FG
Wilbert Gene Leschper, 87, of Sealy, passed away January 22, 2019 at Colonial Belle Nursing Home with his wife of 60 years by his side. He was born August 5, 1931 in the Peters Community to Walter, Sr. and Mary Ludwig Leschper. He attended Peters-Hacienda and Sealy schools.
When his older brother joined the Army, Wilbert dropped out of high school to help on the family farm. He later joined the Army, too, serving from 1954 to 1956. Upon returning, he moved to Houston and worked at Mosher Steel. Friends introduced him to Gladys Franke at an ice cream parlor one day, and they married on September 20, 1958 at Industry Brethren Church. In 1966, they moved back to Peters where he worked for AL&M before opening a meat market in 1976. Gladys worked alongside of him, as did a sister and niece. Their children, Gene and Donna, were often pressed into service, especially during deer season!
Somehow, in between running his own business, raising cattle, and making hay, Wilbert found time to help his kids with their fair projects, draft house plans, bowl in a league, and serve on just about every committee there was at First United Methodist Church of Sealy where he remained a member until his death. He was also a member and/or officer of Peters Hall, Sons of Hermann, Austin Co. Livestock Assn., Farm Bureau director, 4-H adult leader, and Soil & Water Conservation District. He closed The Country Market in 1999 and later worked for Ranchers Meats in Bellville, retiring at the age of 81.
Wilbert loved to barbecue, play cards, and dominoes, watch football (especially the Sealy Tigers and the Houston Texans), and spend time with his large extended family. For years, when the Leschpers gathered for a meal, it was tradition that he offered the blessing. He had a great smile that Parkinson's robbed us of long ago.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; son, Gene Leschper; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Alan Lehmann; grandchildren, Michael, Faith, and Samuel Lehmann; siblings and their spouses, Kenneth and Cleba Leschper, Adolph and Edna Leschper, Marilyn Prince, Doris and Clem Krolczyk, Nelda and Tommy Tamborello; sisters-in-law, Judy Leschper and Linda Ratjen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lindsay, Sheldon Burtchel (1935-2023)
[Veteran] Vietnam, US Navy, 1958-62 [Family] Spouse: Elaine ()
Sheldon Burtchel Lindsay passed away Saturday, February 4 with his loving wife Elaine at his side. He was 87 years old.
Sheldon was born July 3, 1935, in Ozark, Alabama. There he went to school and enjoyed the country life, as in hard work! He attended church with his family. He and his cousin Sandra spent a lot of time trying to stay out of trouble growing up together.
He joined the Navy in 1958 and spent four years traveling the world. He could tell some great stories from that time!
He then moved to Alexandria, Louisiana to work as a machinist and attend business school. At this time, his life changed when he met Elaine as they passed each other in the halls at school. He just adored her from the beginning. After a two-year courtship, they were married. They were married for 57 years!
They moved to Houston around 1965 when Sheldon accepted a position at Cameron as a machinist. They lived in Bellaire for 20 years until Elaine discovered the love of horses, and Sheldon rediscovered his love of them. Some time passed, and they decided to move out to the country to Simonton where they could keep horses and have all the dogs and cats they wanted. Both of them were big animal lovers. Elaine and Sheldon put many miles in the saddle and competed in endurance rides and competitive trail rides. They made many friends who also liked to ride and one of the highlights of the year was taking the horses to Bandera, Texas to camp and ride the trails at the Hill Country Natural Preserve. Those were such fun times even though there were some scary and sometimes uncomfortable moments which we look back on and laugh about. Sheldon retired in 1997.
After some years the Brazos River got too close for comfort, and they moved to the house on the hill in Bleiblerville in 2003. It was here that Elaine and Sheldon really got into gardening and raising chickens. Sheldon loved having all kinds of different varieties of tomatoes. He loved competing in the biggest tomato and squash contests and taking the produce to the farmers market in Brenham. He really enjoyed his chickie girls too.
Besides taking care of numerous animals, Sheldon loved to read, barbeque, and fix and build things. He could fix anything and enjoyed helping others by doing that, the good Christian man that he was. In his later years, he liked nothing better than to sit in his big comfy chair reading a good book with the kitty on his lap.
Sheldon is survived by his beloved wife Elaine, his sister Jean Osborne, and his dear cousin Sandra Henneman. He leaves many good friends behind.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 1-00 Saturday, February 18 at the home of Paula and Michael Little, 4189 FM 949 Sealy, Texas 77474. In lieu of flowers, contributions to your favorite charity may be made.
