Maiden Name: Mudd [Family] Father: Tommy Mudd, Mother: Eleanora Mary Warneke, Spouse: Jim Knesek ()
Memorial funeral mass for Tommie Ann Mudd Knesek, age 78, of Sealy, TX will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 1-00 pm, at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis, TX. Rev. Thuy Quang Nguyen will be celebrating the Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal. Pallbearers are Lewis Mudd, Jim Zarzour, Mark Knesek, Ryan Knesek, Gary Knesek, Justin Tielke (Husband of Granddaughter Meagan) Charlie Morlock, Craig Morlock, Shane Mudd, and Austin Mudd. Honorary pallbearers are Mason Mudd and Bradley Byrne. Deceased honorary bearers- Dennis Knesek, Mike Lane, and David Shoemake.
Tommie Ann wrote her life story and memories for us to share with you.
“I was born Tommie Ann Mudd in Shiner, TX on March 16, 1945, to parents Tommy Mudd and Eleanora Mary Warneke Mudd. I grew up on a ranch along the Guadalupe River, in Gonzales Texas. I found out later in life that I was part American Indian, through my DNA. I am very proud to be part of the Apache Nation. I had a great life, riding horses, earning my spending money by tending cattle, and helping feed 4,000 plus baby chickens before and after school. My father farmed, gardened, tended to his pecan orchard and raised chickens, for local businesses. We loved living along the river, where I picked up and sold pecans to earn extra spending money. We went camping, enjoyed cookouts and I learned my love of fishing, in the river, from my dad. Mama taught me how to cook and be a “good†girl and made sure we were always in Church. I sang in the Church and school choir, played the piano in Church (very badly), and taught Sunday school. Life was great. I graduated from Gonzales High School in 1963, where I participated in basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, and badminton and was a member of the Gonzales High School drill team. I was a member of the girls' athletics association and president of the Future Nurses Association in high school. I loved volunteering at the local nursing home and Warm Springs Rehabilitation. I loved anything medical-related, so I worked for our local physician, Dr. David Shelby in the summers answering the phone every day, five days a week, for $25 a week. I thought I was rich, and he and his wife inspired me to go to nursing school. I attended Robert B. Green School of Nursing and Trinity University San Antonio College. After receiving my Registered Nurses license, I worked at the Robert B. Green Hospital in San Antonio, in the Pediatric Unit for Abused Children, where I learned to love the children unconditionally (so sad) and that they never wanted to go back home. I received my certificate as an instructor in Cardiac Resuscitation and my certification in ACLS, was a member of the American Red Cross, received my certificate for EMS, member of the Austin County Police Officers Ladies Auxiliary, lifetime member of the Bellville Hospital Auxiliary, and Bluebonnet Society. In addition, in my spare time, I took 36 hours of acrylic and oil painting just for fun. The horse painting, I gave to my youngest granddaughter (because she loves horses) was done as an amateur. My other two granddaughters have flowers that I painted.
I met Jim Knesek at the bus station in San Antonio, one Friday, on my way home to Gonzales for the weekend. He was attending San Antonio College Mortuary School and was on his way home to Wallis. We immediately bonded and we kept in touch throughout college. One weekend, he showed up at my parents' house in his old car, a 1956 Chevy and he won the hearts of my Dad and my Mom. Reluctantly, I agreed to let him take me back to San Antonio (he was very pushy ha! ha!). I realized, after a while, that he was the love of my life and we married on August 21st, 1965, on his birthday…that way he wouldn't forget our anniversary. My second greatest love was working in surgery, as an RN. I loved working with all the medical personnel in Gonzales, San Antonio, Lufkin, Spring Branch, Wharton, and Bellville. I have met and loved all the people at all the hospitals that I have worked at and in all the Departments; ICU, CCU, SCU, Recovery Room, to ER Supervisor.
My greatest accomplishment was giving birth to our daughter Mandi and having my wonderful (son-to-me) son-in-law Jimmy, in my life. They gave us our awesome three Granddaughters, Meagan, Lauren, and Emily.
I am survived by my husband- Jim Knesek, Our Daughter- Amanda (Mandi) Lynn Knesek Zarzour and her husband Jim Zarzour of Bellville, Grandchildren- Meagan (Zarzour) Tielke and Husband Justin Tielke, Lauren Zarzour, and Emily Zarzour, Great Grandson- Colson Tielke. Brother- Lewis Mudd and Wife Tami of Sealy and their Children- Austin Mudd, Shane Mudd, and wife Deanna and their children Jordan and Camden. My sister Connie Morlocks children- Charlie Morlock and his wife Brandi and their son Ziggy and Craig Morlock and his Wife Crystal and their son Mason Morlock. As well as many more relatives and friends.
I was proceeded in death by my parents, Tommy and Eleanora Mudd, my sister Connie Lea Mudd Morlock, and brothers-in-law Mike Lane and David Shoemake".

Kocurek, Emil Charles, Jr. "Randy Reets" (1934-2023)
Nickname: Randy Reets, Notable person [Veteran] other, CAPT, US Army/USAR [Family] Father: Emil Julius Kocurek, Mother: Mary Matocha, Spouse: Dolores Dycus () , FG
Emil Charles Kocurek, Jr., better known as Randy Reets, peacefully passed away on February 7, 2023, at the age of 88 with his loving family by his side. Randy was born on June 13, 1934, near Wharton, Texas, to Emil Kocurek, Sr., and Mary (Matocha) Kocurek. In 1961, he married Dolores Dycus, and they had four children.
In his early years, his family often moved around and eventually settled in Sealy, where he graduated from high school in 1953. In 1957, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication from the University of Houston. During his time at the U of H, he adopted the name "Randy Reets", which became the stage name that the public knew him by. Following college, he served in the U.S. Army, initially as a Public Information Specialist, and later attained the rank of captain. He also served in the Reserves.
In 1958, Reets moved to Brenham and joined the staff at radio station KWHI. His radio career would span more than 60 years, most of which were at KWHI/KTTX and KLTR. He wore many hats in radio, including disc jockey, news director, sports director, operations manager, salesman, and sales manager.
But his passion was sports broadcasting. His ability to eloquently describe the game along with the atmosphere became Reets' trademark and endeared him to the people of Brenham and the surrounding areas. He served as the long-time play-by-play voice for the Brenham Cubs, Bellville Brahmas, Burton Panthers, Blinn Buccaneers, and Washington County Little League. During his career, he called games for nearly every high school in Washington and the surrounding counties, broadcasted games featuring future professional athletes, and called the action from the Little League World Series.
In addition to his love of sports, Reets was also an avid entertainer. Much of his life, he could be found on a stage. From his early college days on, he played in bands and eventually was the leader of Randy and the Rockets and then The Serenaders. His bands played at weddings, festivals, fraternity parties, city and private events, and much more, performing polkas, waltzes, country and western, and even some rock. The musical events he played numbered well into the thousands.
Reets also invested his time in entertainment and retail ventures. Some of the activities he created included The Washington County Opry, JAMBOX Disc Jockey Service, and Randy Reets Moonwalks. After retiring from radio, Reets operated Randy Reets Furniture for many years.
Even more important than his career was his dedication to the Catholic faith. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for more than 60 years and prayed the Rosary quite frequently. Many times, you could clearly see his servant's heart at work as he assisted others with errands, doctor's appointments, and even employment. Reets was a Third-Degree knight and also served as Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. As a KC member since 1961, he was recognized as an honorary lifetime member as well.
Reets is survived by his children Deidra Mearns, Kellen Kocurek, Chris Kocurek and wife Carolyn, and Amy Bentke and husband Phil; grandchildren Meredith Dunaway and husband Lance, Alex Mearns, Katelyn Kocurek, Kathleen Young and husband Ty, Cameron Kocurek, Reagan Bentke, and Cara Amelang and husband Kurt; great-grandchildren Isaac Dunaway, Tatum Young, and Kade Young; special cousin JoAnn Tatum; Dolores Kocurek; and numerous relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law Prentice Mearns.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters and his great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank these special friends for their love and help over the years- Nancy and James Fritz, Jenny Warchesik, Tracy Mikolajchak, Rio Barrera, Leo Barrera, Stoney Lacina, and Dr. William T. Gray.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel, located at 2300 Stringer Street, Brenham, Texas. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, located at 701 Church Street, Brenham, Texas. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Koehn, Fritz (1886-1966)
[Family] Spouse: Melissa Ringener ()
Fritz was a brother to Louise (Lizzie) Koehn, Kleibrink. When their widowed mother moved them to Brenham, Texas, Fritz had to work for his room and board with farmers. He was eight when his mother married Wilhelm Stegmann. At this time, I am not sure how old he was when he started working for his room and board. He worked for the Lahrmann and Schleinamann families. At one time, the farm he worked on was close to an "insane asylum". Fritz was left alone to tend the farm animals when the family went on trips and the screaming from the asylum was terrifying to him. When Fritz was fourteen years old, he was not with his mother, as stated in the 1900 census. His life was quite hard until he was grown. When he went to work for Georg Beerwinkel life was easier. He continued to work for Mrs. Beerwinkel, when Georg died. In 1908, Fritz and Melissa Ringener Beerwinkel married. Fritz loved children and he and Melissa had four. Fritz Koehn was on the Church Council at the St. James Lutheran Church at New Wehdem, Brenham, Texas. He and Melissa also donated land to the Church.
In later years, Fritz would drive to Waco, pick up Minnie (his sister) and her husband, Otto Dresner, and drive up to Clifton to visit Fritz and Louise Gaskamp Kleibrink.
Koehne, Sharon Dale (Taylor) (1939-2024)
Maiden Name: Taylor [Family] Father: Jack E Taylor, Mother: Thelma Wade, Spouse: William “Bill” Koehne [Cemetery] Saint John Lutheran Church Cemetery ()
It is with the heaviest of hearts that Sharon Dale Koehne went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 29th, 2024. She passed away peacefully at home just days after losing her wonderful companion “Baily†(her aging “Shih Tzuâ€).
Sharon Dale was born July 30th, 1939 in Houston Texas. She grew up with her beloved sister Beverly, brother Jack and her mother Thelma Wade and was a tremendously loving and adventurous young lady, able to light up a room with her beautiful smile and witty humor.
Sharon met her husband William “Bill†Koehne, in the early 60s and spent her years as a nurturing mother and wife. The two lived in Houston before moving south near the water. They spent many years of love raising their children in Bayou Vista, Texas as patriarchal members of this seaside community.
Sharon's proudest achievement in life was her family. Together, Sharon and Bill built a family on Pompano Street that could only be described by neighbors as both loving and loud. They worked as a team to raise much-loved children, care for a stream of pets, and welcome anyone and everyone into their home. They affectionately named the whole family crew “Warf Ratsâ€. The endless family gatherings, water adventures and camping trips built lasting relationships that are special family lore.
Sharon is survived by her loving sister Beverly Brown, (deceased husband Ray Brown Sr.); brother Don Ray Wilson, (wife Ellen); daughter Sherri Covin-Christensen, and sons Perry (wife Amy) and Walter Koehne (wife Donna).
Sharon joins now in heaven, her beloved husband William Frank Koehne, and her son Morris Dale Covin, mother Thelma Elberta Taylor, father Jack Edwin Taylor Sr., and brother Jack Edwin Taylor Jr.
Sharon, “MiMi†was a caring and passionate Sister, Aunt ; and a Grandmother to so many beautiful children. She was a great, great grandmother! Her eyes would light up when she spoke of her many crowned jewels.
MiMi always had a childlike awe and love of life. Whether it was riding motorcycles, sailing, fishing, hunting, or traveling. she truly had a special knack for enjoying all of the little things life has to offer and helping others do the same. This joy for life extended right up to the very end. She never ever wanted to put anyone out and her thoughts were for what she could do to ease your pain or discomfort despite her own ailing health.
Sharon loved life! She loved traveling to exotic locations with her daughter Sherri, helping her church community at St John's as a Sunday school teacher or serving on committees, racing motorcycles, raising cows and donkeys as pets, leading scouts, teaching children to water ski, catching the most fish (always), gardening, working as a waitress in hard times, working in a local school cafeteria, or supporting three generations of public servants and military leaders. She did it all with grace and beauty.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Mimi's funeral service on Friday, June 7th, 2024, at 10-00 am at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, 12488 Newberg Rd., Cat Spring 78933.
Followed by a reception at St John's Lutheran Church, 480 Ross St, Cat Spring Texas 78933.
Sharon loved flowers and plants, memorial donations can be sent to The Koehne Family 12344 FRANTZ RD, CAT SPRING, TX, 78933-5095. Or to the Funeral Home, at 842 E Main St (FM 529) Bellville, TX 77418
