Schroeder, August (-1915)
[Cemetery] Pilgrims Rest Cemetery #01 ()
THE BELLVILLE TIMES
17 June 1915
News clipping-
On last Thursday afternoon the body of August Schroeder was found near a water tank on Henry Frank's place, about 2 1/2 miles northeast of town. Upon the finding of the body, sheriff J. D. Palm and justice E. A. Wammel were summoned to the scene, as was Dr. O. E. Steck, who is of the opinion that death was caused from excessive drink and exposure to the hot sun.
There appear to be conflicting statements in regard to the matter. One version given the TIMES reporter was the effect that Schroeder, Edwin Brockmann and Henry Frank had been down to fish in the tank that morning and that the two went to dinner leaving Schroeder there. He was found about 2 p.m. by Max Frank, who seeing his serious condition went for assistance, and the party on returning found Schroeder dead.
Interment was made Friday afternoon at pilgrims rest. Justice Wammel officiating. The deceased was a little more than 32 years and nine months old. He leaves a wife and two children, a father and mother, 3 brothers, 6 sisters. His home has been made on the Wm. Hildebrandt place on the Buckhorn prairie.

Maiden Name: Flake [Family] Father: Everett Flake, Mother: Jessie Allensworth, Spouse: Richard William Schultz, Children: Steven Lee “Steve” Schultz [Cemetery] Millheim Cemetery () , FG
Joyce Schultz, 86 of Sealy, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, in Bellville. Joyce Elaine Schultz was born to Jessie Allensworth and Everett Flake on June 28, 1935, born and raised in Chicago, Il. She attended Lutheran Schools with her brothers and was a cheerleader. Her dream was to go to college and become a nurse. Plans changed, she fell in love and married the man she would spend the next 67 years of her life with, Richard W. Schultz. After Richard's service in the Navy was complete, they packed up and moved to Texas. Joyce would get to follow her dream and go to school to become a nurse, while Richard worked two jobs to take care of the family.
Joyce did fulfill her dream and went to become a registered nurse. She worked for the V.A. a short time then made a career at Memorial Hermann Memorial City. She started as a floor nurse then went to the ICU and on to the Recovery Room. She became Director there and then went on to cover all of surgical services and was one of the first to bring in Hyperbaric. Her career spanned over 33 years at Memorial Hermann. She was loved by many of her coworkers of which four she stayed very close with after retirement in 2001.
Joyce loved her family; she raised three children with Richard, Steven, Pamela and husband, Erwin, and Rebecca Fitch and husband, Anthony. She has a granddaughter, Brenna McDaniel and husband, Joshua, and two great-granddaughters, Payton and McKinsey, and a brother, Raymond Flake.
Joyce and her family loved to go camping and were always going to a Texas State Park for most all vacations. She was the best camp cook and a pretty good fisherwoman. We have lots of memories of outdoor life from those trips.
After retirement, she loved traveling Texas and visiting Bed and Breakfasts with Richard. She loved to mow the yard and fish in the pond on the property. She would get together with her long-time friends, Bev, Sharon, and Gloria, and play Canasta.
She went to be with her Lord and Savior and her heavenly family that preceded her in death, her mother, Jessie, and father, Everett; the love of her life, husband, Richard; and her firstborn, Steve; and a sister, Bertie; and brother; Ronald. She will be missed by her family and friends. May she find her wings to be our guardian angel till we meet with her again.
A funeral service will be held at 8-00 AM on Monday, August 16, 2021, at Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel, 768 Fourth Street, Sealy, Texas. Burial will be in Millheim Cemetery.

[Veteran] Korea, S1, US Navy, 1952-56 [Family] Spouse: Joyce Elaine Flake, Children: Steven Lee “Steve” Schultz [Cemetery] Millheim Cemetery () , FG
Richard William Schultz was born on November 5, 1931 in the windy city of Chicago, Illinois. He loved the Bulls and the Bears but he was a die-hard Cubs fan; any chance he had, he would be at Wrigley Field.
He met his future wife, Joyce Elaine Flake, as young teenagers before he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was a seaman on the USS Ajax in the Communications Division. Richard served his country proudly; he served four years and was honorably discharged March 6, 1956.
On December 26, 1953, he married Joyce; together they had three children, one boy and two daughters. Richard and his family moved to Texas in 1956. For many years he worked as a breadman but later moved into security. He was also a great family man; he loved coaching his children in both softball and baseball, taking the family camping and fishing; he was also an avid bowler deep into his 70s.
Richard enjoyed his retirement where family was still number one; he enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, grandchildren, and great-granddaughters. He will be forever loved and missed dearly from each and everyone of his family, from his wife down to his great-grandchildren, his family, and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Millheim Cemetery at 2-00 PM on Monday, May 18, 2020. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing will be enforced for graveside services.

Schutte, Wilver "Jean" (Bean; Svajda) (1930-2017)
Maiden Name: Bean; Svajda, Nickname: Jean [Family] Father: William Milam Bean, Mother: Ila D'Lisha Hare, Spouse: Vladimir Frank “Ladgie” Svajda; Myles Gus Schutte [Cemetery] Immaculate Conception Cemetery (Sealy) () , FG , FS
Wilver Jean (Bean) Svajda, 87, ended her life's journey on Saturday afternoon, October 21, 2017 at her home where she lived the past 62 years. "Jean", as her family and friends called her, was born in Evadale, Texas where she was raised and attended grade school. She attended and graduated high school in Buna, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents William Milam Bean and Ila D'Lisha (Hare) Bean, her husband Vladimir Frank (Ladgie) Svajda (Sealy), her brother Frank Bean (Beaumont, Tx) and sister Willie (Bean) Wright (Evadale), and her second husband Myles G. Schutte (Sealy).
She is survived by her son Michael Hardie-Svajda (Austin, Tx), her daughter Ann (Svajda) Sosa (San Antonio, TX), her granddaughter Myla Hardie-Svajda (Los Angeles, Ca), her son-in-law Ricardo (Che) Sosa (San Antonio, Tx), and Ricardo's nephew Jorge “George†Herrera (San Antonio, Tx) who is an honored member of the family.
Jean met the love of her life Ladgie Svajda in Silsbee, Tx where he worked as a bookkeeper. They were married 6 months later and lived in Silsbee for a year before moving to Sealy where Ladgie was offered a job with the Sealy School District. She supported her husband Ladgie in his work as an educator and administrator in Sealy for many years. He taught her bookkeeping and she kept the books and worked as Secretary for Koy Concrete until her retirement.
Jean had a lot of energy and always stayed busy. She loved decorating her home and working in her yard and garden. She was known and admired for her back yard in particular where she kept an impressive array of plants and trees to accentuate her large brick patio. She derived great pleasure from the various species of birds that would come to bathe and drink in her bird bath and fountain.
She had a love of music. As a teenager she played guitar and piano and sang at parties with a school friend of hers. Her son became a professional musician learning to sing harmony at his Mother's knee as she played songs from the American Standard songbook. She had a large collection of records, CD's, and tapes that she played often. She especially liked the music of the 40's. One of her favorites was Glen Miller. She also loved Mariachi music and would always ask them to play a song when she was in a restaurant with live musicians.
Jean was also well traveled. She was able to see most of the continental United States. She traveled to Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Vancouver, Montreal, and the coast of Alaska by ship. She traveled as long as her health permitted.
She loved to dress well. She had an elegant way of buying unique dresses and matching them with jewelry and accessories. She also had a special love of the Christmas holidays and had her tree up and decorated very early in the season so she could get maximum enjoyment of her favorite time of year.
She will be greatly missed by the people whose lives she touched. The family asks that you simply remember her in your prayers and with a smile. That is the way she would have wanted it. And it is the way we will always remember her.
Visitation will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Knesek Funeral Home 768 Fourth St., Sealy, Texas. Immediately following at 11 AM will be a memorial service and cemetery service.
