Scott, Ardis (Scheer) (1936-2024)
Maiden Name: Scheer [Family] Father: Edward Scheer, Mother: Lillian Meggers, Spouse: Merrill Lockler “Bud” Scott, Jr, Children: Eric James Scott; Lynn Ann Browning; Jean Marie Aranda [Cemetery] San Felipe de Austin Cemetery ()
Ardis JoAnn Loy Scheer Scott entered the Kingdom of Heaven on the Lord's Day, Sunday, March 3, 2024. She was with her son and medical team.
A woman beloved by so many, she was born on October 28,1936, in Mapleton, Iowa, to Edward and Lillian (Meggers) Scheer. While growing up in Iowa she was a star basketball player, a drummer in the school band, and was crowned Stockcar Beauty Queen. As a young professional she went on modeling auditions, tried recording a record album and worked in the Aerospace industry in Southern California in the late 1950's and 60's. She always drove Buicks and there she commandeered her own 1956 Buick cabriolet. She started work at the age of nine after her father was killed in an accident and worked in accounting for various companies well into her 70's. She was united in marriage to Merrill Lockler “Bud†Scott, Jr..
Having traveled and lived across the United States, she and her family settled in Brookshire, Texas, and became proprietors of several liquor stores and a restaurant which, when not rented out, was dubbed “The Place Next Door to the Liquor Storeâ€. There she and Bud threw some of the grandest parties the community had ever seen. The local newspaper frequently reported details of her hosting skills, social events, and galas. She was also very involved in Cub Scouts, multiple school events and the Royal Booster Club. She was the chief decorator for many of the UIL banquets. In the late 60's, while living in New York, she was in an Art Guild where she painted oils and polymers. One of her paintings was commissioned and hung in the New York State House. While her son served three terms as Mayor of Brookshire, she effectively acted as the First Lady. The entire community loved her as “Mom†and was regularly treated to her gourmet candies, jellies, and pickles. Each year at the church's fundraiser, her peanut brittle was highly sought after and bid upon. One of her passions was quilting and for each grandchild, she designed and created works of art to keep them warm. During Christmas, her favorite time of year, she created enchanting and merry venues, provided gifts for all, and loved to make and gift unique yule logs. She also was an avid bridge player and was a member of several bridge clubs throughout her life.
As a little girl Ardis accompanied her older sister to Lutheran School and, when she was of age, attended the very same classes. Throughout her life she had a sense of sophistication, was kind, loving and treated people well with respect and grace. She was a giver and delighted in her friendships, and her family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She exemplified the true teachings of Christianity.
Ardis Scott was known as Mommy by her children and MeMe by her grand and great grandchildren. She had her son Mayor Eric James Scott, daughters Lynn Ann Scott Browning and Jean Marie Scott Aranda. Her grandchildren are Cortney Renee Gough (Lucas), Brock Steven Browning, Blake Adam Aranda (Britney), Derek Lockler Browning, and Gavin Scott Aranda. Her great grandchildren are Juliet Renee Gough, Lillian Arielle Gough, and William Blake Aranda. Bellville Times
Charles “Charlie†Larkin Seely, 55, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, while surrounded by his wife, children, and their spouses at Sugar Land Methodist Hospital from cardiac and respiratory failure.
Charlie is predeceased by his parents, Wallace and Esther Seely, and his sister, Joanne Sheard, all from Sugar Land.

Charlie and Vicki wed in November 1990, bringing two families together into one. Blending personalities and names, the Seely family grew in numbers with grandchildren, who knew him only as Poppy. Numerous other family and friends lovingly remember him.
Charlie was born in Sugar Land in 1959. A career lawman, Charlie served the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, Sealy Police Department, Sugar Land Police Department, and Richmond Police Department. Most comfortable as a street cop, Charlie also worked as a bailiff and detective. While proudly serving his community in this way for more than 25 years, Charlie was truly at home donning his customary overalls in a livestock show arena.
Charlie spent his life devoted to children and animals. A dedicated swine, lamb, and goat man, many area livestock shows and county fairs saw Poppy observing his family and friends showing their animals. Charlie encouraged countless class winners, grand champions, and showmanship award winners. Charlie shared his love of animals with his wife, as they raised a variety of show livestock and Labrador Retrievers. Many families came to Charlie and Vicki for furry, four-legged additions to their families.

Sherrard, Alexander Conroy "Bunny" (2006-2023)
Nickname: Bunny [Family] Mother: Laura Marie [Cemetery] Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church ()
Laura Marie “Rabbit†Sherrard, 55, and Alexander Conroy “Bunny†Sherrard, 16, of Houston, were taken from us on March 3, 2023. Laura was born October 25, 1967, in Houston, Texas, and spent most of her childhood in Kenney, Texas. She was baptized in the Catholic Church. Laura was a confirmed Catholic and a true follower of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She had true a devotion to our Lady of the Rosary.
From the start of her life, Laura broke barriers and took on the world with complete fearlessness. Decades later, family and friends are still able to recall how she was the first girl in Bellville Little League to play baseball in the Boys' Major Division; entered into a skate-off with kids who were far more experienced skaters than her and still finished second; or competed with her bigger, stronger brothers in basketball games in the family's driveway. Laura was an incredibly multifaceted individual; as she had her physical accomplishments, she also threw herself into her artistic and intellectual endeavors. While attending Bellville High School, she was a UIL state finalist in poetry, mock trial, and voted Regional All Star Cast in One Act Play. After high school, she earned an English degree from the University of Texas and a Masters in Education from Houston Baptist University. She notably loved all things fashion and bonded with her mother and family over shopping trips. She had a keen eye for authentic brands and styles of the time. Over the course of her life, Laura worked at the Harris County Sheriff's Department, a teacher at Bellville High School, and as a loss prevention agent at Nordstroms.
Like the rest of our family, Laura got along better with animals than she did with humans. She loved cats, dogs, horses, and parrots, and adopted several strays over the course of her life. Given this love of animals, it is fitting that she became known to her nieces, nephews, and younger cousins as the Rabbit. Every conversation with Rabbit could lead into a million twists until you realized that y'all have been talking for 4 hours. This was because Rabbit had a thousand stories and was never ashamed of being raw and open with her family about them. In this way, Rabbit took her passion for teaching outside of the classroom and into everyday life, using the wisdom gained from an adventurous life to help her loved one's navigate theirs. Laura shared a special relationship with each of her family members. Her nieces and nephews were her world and she loved them beyond measure. Laura and her mom shared a special bond and they were truly best friends and were utterly devoted to each other. One piece of advice she gave to her mom that is resonating with us during this tragic event is - “Don't worry, mom. Gods got this!†In addition, she instilled upon her family confidence every chance she got and encouraged everyone to be the best version of themselves. This ability to build someone up was most evident after the birth of her son, Alexander.
Alexander was born April 16, 2006 in Houston, Texas. He was baptized on December 23, 2008 at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Frelsburg, Texas, and was a true follower of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As his mother was known to so many as Rabbit, it was only natural that Alexander became known to his family members as “Bunny†or “Bun.†Having been born with apraxia, a nervous condition that alters the body's ability to move and speak, he had to work tirelessly with his mother to learn basic life tasks his doctors were skeptical he would ever be capable of doing, such as walking and talking. As he adapted to his condition and began schooling, it became evident that his abilities in physics and mathematics were incredible and his intellect was enormous. Bun's academics were so incredible that in High School, he was a National Merit Scholar finalist, scored a 1570 on the SAT, and was interviewed by MIT. Regardless of where he went to school or what profession he chose to pursue, there was no doubt to anyone he was destined for a remarkably successful career.
As well as Bun's mind served him academically, it was even more impressive to see it work in day-to-day interactions. He enjoyed videogames and would play online with his cousins. His sense of humor was very intelligent and esoteric, and his jokes often were so advanced they went over everyone's heads. Time and time again, he proved that there is no adversity too difficult to overcome.
Laura and Alexander were never one without the other, a dynamic duo, and may they rest together in heaven. Laura and Alex are survived by her mother, Marjorie “Mar†Sherrard; brothers, Clifton and wife Dr. Mercedes Serratos Sherrard of Houston, Rob Sherrard and wife Bethany Sherrard of Industry, Texas; nephews, Lukas Sherrard and Clifton “CJ†Sherrard Jr.; nieces, Ellie and Isabela Sherrard; cousins, Sarah Schmidt from Houston, Texas, Dr. Anne Schmidt of Hoover, Alabama, John Sellers of North Carolina, Cherene Sellers of North Carolina, Pam Wiles of Spring, Texas, and Lisa Grande of Montgomery, Texas; uncles Mike and Bobby Schmidt; aunts Linda Sellers and Anne Bailey of Houston, Texas.
They are preceded in death by Laura's father, Robert Sr.; cousin Reagan Schmidt; and grandparents Ellie and Monroe Schmidt.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 5-00 PM to 7-00 PM at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. A rosary will follow at 7-00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 10-00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg, Texas with Fr. Bob Knippenberg officiating. Visitation at church will be from 9-00 AM to 10-00 AM.

Sherrard, Laura Marie "Rabbit" (1967-2023)
Nickname: Rabbit [Family] Father: Robert Sherrard, Mother: Marjorie, Children: Alexander Conroy Sherrard [Cemetery] Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church ()
